We received information today that our TUI flight on a TUI package holiday has been switched to Titan Airways who is a company we know nothing about. We received no explanation. Is this a new practice. Our flight retains a TOM code and we still check in at TUI desk at Gatwick North. Who else has the same notification.

does it matter?
guessing it may be due to the grounding of the max8s, I know which I would rather be on0 -
It's probably because of the 737 max grounding. They are a charter company who rent out planes to airlines who need extra capacity at peak times.
It's a common practice and in practical terms you won't really notice any difference. In fact one of the better flights I've had was on a converted air tanker that had been sub contracted. A few weeks earlier it was in use doing mid air refuelling for the RAF.0 -
TUI have 6 Boeing 737MAX aircraft that they are currently unable to fly due to the worldwide grounding. Therefore, and with the summer scheduled now in effect, they have had to sub-charter 6 aircrafts worth of flying.
Titan are a very reputable charter airline based out of Stansted,0 -
They also use Norwegian...who give you a higher hand luggage allowance.0

Tui have changed our flights to Ibiza in June to Olympus Airlines. We aren’t bothered to be honest as there’s nothing special about Tui planes. There’s people on Trip Advisor who have actually cancelled their holidays due to the change of airline and moaned that they have lost all their money! Ridiculous.0

That is utterly idiotic. It's a budget airline and they are all much of a muchness going short haul.0 -
Ex Monarch aircraft still in Monarch colour scheme!0

Going with TUI in Italy in September flying out of Bristol and using NEOS an Italian budget airline. No worries as long as we get there.0

Titan Airways are a very good airline and I’d be more than happy to get them as a substitute.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

We flew home with Tui last Sunday and the taxi driver who collected us said Tui have five max 8 planes parked at Manchester. That’s a lot of capacity which needs to be replaced to fulfill their summer schedules.
We are flying again with Tui in five weeks but haven’t heard that our carrier has been changed. Wouldn’t trouble me one jot if it has.0
