Apologies if this isn't the right place, what were the electrical problems that caused you to return the original car? I ordered a vitara yesterday and now I'm worried I've made a mistake

There is no car where there aren't people complaining about it on the internet. If you want some non-piece of mind, order a Qashqai and then go and read the owners' Facebook group.

We are not getting the full or true story here.....
Only way the check strap would break if if door was violently opened ( such as being caught by the wind ) which would also explain why the door if bent.
The explanation just doesn't make sense so no wonder Suzuki rejected the claim.

Maybe it was damaged at the factory or at the dealer . I never broke it, if I did I would put my hands up and pay for it myself . I’ve had 5 months of hell with the dealer,Suzuki and 2 faulty cars. I don’t enjoy spending time in dealer showrooms or looking on the internet for advice.

I collect the first Vitara on the Friday before Christmas, the next day the doors wouldn’t open , I opened door with the key then the car wouldn’t start so had to call the AA out , the car had 91 miles on the clock. The AA man got the car going by locking and unlocking the door via the switch on the door.
Over 25 days it failed to open and start 17 times, 3 times it cut out while I was driving it. So it was rejected. The dealer took 3 months to find it was wiring fitted at the factory which was faulty.
I had 2 Loan Vitara’s and the replacement car have been fine.
I love the car,the engine 1.0 Boosterjet engine is fantastic, the drive and size is great. Sadly fault with the door and also the front trim another the wheel arch has come loose.

It would be easier to give you advice if we could find a consistent version of what happened.

You've gone from saying the check strap snapped which caused the door to open too far and bend, probably connected to a rainy day when you were in a hurry to get in, which then stopped the window going down; to saying you don't know where it happened and it might have been the factory when it was built.

I'm not surprised that the warranty claim was rejected really. If the door was bent two months ago which stopped the window going down two months ago, I can't fathom what this has to do with the factory before you ever saw the car.

This may well not be your fault but you just need to be a whole lot clearer in explaining why if you expect the dealer to fix your door.

I didn’t examine the check strap when I bought it, I should have a got a magnifying glass to check it , my fault I know.
[I don’t know how it broke, I’m guessing, I don’t have a camera on the check strap 24/7

And this attitude is why you'll struggle with your dealer - you need them onside and to calmly explain why you feel the issue is theirs to solve rather than ranting as you are here

Something happened to bend the door - if you genuinely don't know what then ask them to investigate and if it's deemed to not be a manufacturing issue then be prepared to either put your hand in your pocket or go via insurance

I’m ok with the dealer, they’re calling me tomorrow to tell me the cost to fix. It’s Suzuki who I have the problem with. They will be getting a complaint tomorrow via a letter and I’ll be calling them.

2nd check strap has broke. Put window down to use my key fob for the barrier at work and there was a loud snapping sound. Opened the door and again snapped at exactly same place.
    Exactly what happened last time!

Maybe this second incident of door-strap failure is good news

Insist that the dealer strips off the door card in your presence, so that the alignment of the window runners can be checked against the position and fixings of the door-strap.

I too have a Vitara - It does the job I want it to, but basically the entire body shell is an ancient design that's had many variants, and I'm sure that the instrument binnacles being being reflected onto the windscreen has annoyed many owners, just a much as it annoys me
