Suzuki turned down my warranty claim
My 4 month old Suzuki Vitara door is slightly bent.
The drivers door window didn’t go all the way down 2 months ago. I took car to Luscombe Suzuki in Leeds, they discovered that the door check strap snapped , this was replaced last week. But this didn’t fix the problem ( window goes down when door fully open but not when it’s shut).
Luscombe contacted Suzuki Warranty Dept. but they have turned the claim down cause the door isn’t under warranty! The door is bent cause the car check strap failed !!
This car is a replacement for the first car I bought at Christmas and was rejected after 25 days cause of electrical problem.

How did the strap fail? heavy wind, door opened and pulled beyond its limit?0

The window is sticking because the door is bent.
Is the door bent because it got opened - HARD - further than it should do?
Did it open further than it should because the check strap had failed?
Or did the check strap fail when the door was opened harder and further than it should?
But why was it being opened so hard?
So the question then is what got all of this started... Was the door hit by something? Was it opened in a very high wind?0 -
The only thing I can think off is it was pouring with rain, I opened the door quickly and got in the car. It never went fully back.0

I remember when you used to see a lot of Peugeots driving round (106, 306 etc) where the door straps seemed to be prone to failing in the wind resulting in the edge of the door becoming badly bent.
In the image I can't really see what is bent but my door was visibly bent and caved in many years ago and the window still went up and down.
Are you sure it is not just a damaged wire in the door loom that connects properly when the door is open?
Of course, if you can hear the window catching as you lower it, it won't be a wire.0 -
The driver’s door on the right is about 2-3 mm higher .0

I’ll load a YouTube video tomorrow0

I think you might have a battle on your hands proving that the check strap didn't break because you opened the door too far. And even then the damage occurred because the door was opened too far after it broke.
They aren't indestructible. I see them as a last resort that might save your door.
I'm not really surprised the warranty claim was turned down tbh.0
