Morning.
Been AWOL for a couple of days. Not been great to be honest as been backwards and forwards to the vets with woof to the tune of £90-£100. Fortunately been covered by eBay sales, not that money is priority with my furbabies - I just want to get him well again.
In other news, I’ve had the refund through from previous energy supplier - £165 refunded in total, so v happy with that. It’s covered the cost of DS party and some pressies.
Weighed in this week and have lost 3lb - so 5.5lb in total
2 weeks til pay day - need to keep focussed and plod on .........0 -
Morning!
Woof is looking brighter and showing small signs of recovery which is a big relief. Going to be a long job though.
Overpayments have stopped for now. Suddenly having to free up £100 for vets fees has been a bit of a wake up call - we need that emergency fund - like yesterday!!! Aiming for £500 by year end and another £500 by end of March. Ideally would want £1k by year end but with the amount of birthdays and Christmas between now and then £500 seems more realistic.
Both DS and myself are under the weather, so it looks like it’s going to be a quiet weekend here. Usually quiet means low spend so feeling bleurgh does have its advantages!
Right I’m going to ponder the spreadsheets over a cuppa and see where I can magic the £1k emergency fund from over the next 6 months.....0 -
Glad your dog is improving.

Thanks jwil and savingholmes
Savingholmes I’m on a constant decluttering mission! Nothing major to sell but I guess it all adds up. Hoping to do a car boot or 2 to clear a load of stuff over the next few weeks providing the weather allows.
No plans as yet for the weekend- to be honest I’m looking forward to doing as little as possible.
Have a good one x0 -
Morning!
Reasonably quiet weekend here. Trip to the park with DS on Saturday and I blitzed the house Sunday whilst OH took DS food shopping.
Overspent massively on the food shop - Nearly £100  To be fair nothing out the ordinary was bought but even so!!! Payday still 10 days away, I’m going to need to be inventive
Been listening to the barefoot assessor via a free audible trial - he speaks a lot of sense. Will hopefully finish it off today and then see how we could make it work for us.
Right, best spring into action! Happy Monday everyone0 -
Hi seahorsey, I've just read your diary and you're doing really well. In terms of your grocery spending, do you meal plan and take a shopping list? When our budget was really tight (who am I kidding...it still is :rotfl:), I used to input my shopping list online to see how much it would cost, then if it was over budget I could tweak it before I even got to the shops.0

I find online shopping works the best for me too in keeping costs under controlAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thanks both - Welshkitty that is a simple but genius idea, can’t believe I’ve not thought of that before! OH generally does food shop, I send a list of what myself and DS need, he then adds his bits to it. I meal plan for myself and DS to a point but OH looks after himself. We have a weird set up as we’re all fussy in our own way. I’m veggie, OH is literally meat and two veg (no sauces, no mushed up food, no spices) and poor DS is a combo of us both - poor kids got nothing chance :rotfl: As a result we are literally cooking 3 meals a night as DS eats a lot earlier than us. So realistically our food bill is never going to be mega low but there’s room for savings.
Woof has made huge leaps in his recovery this weekend and is back to bullying me for walks and food. Not quite 100% but he’s getting there. Vet had said up to 6 weeks recovery, so I’m over the moon with his progress and feel like a weight has been lifted.
Finished listening to the barefoot investor yesterday. The latter parts got very Australian but definitely food for thought and makes be realise that getting rid of the debt is only the first step to financial freedom. If anyone has any other suggestions for books / podcasts etc, I’d definitely be interested. I find them great to listen to at work or when I’m running.
Anyways best get started - have a fantastic day x0 -
:rotfl: Oh forgot to add yesterday was a rare NSD - definitely need to focus on collecting more if these :rotfl:0
