What washing detergent do you use?

Hi all, i'm thinking of changing my washing powder as i'm going off the smell and thinking that liquid might be better economy wise.
Currently i use persil non-bio tablets and use 1 1/2 instead of the recommended 2. i've used non-bio since my eldest now 4 was born. Does bio detergent get things cleaner? I'm thinking that if i use liquid i can put in as much as required i.e if clothes just need a freshen up!
My mum also uses different detergent for darks and lights. Does anyone else do this? does it have any advantage?
I'd love to know what other people use as i guess i'm a bit scared to changing after so long so any input gratefully received. I know persil is a brand and you pay a lot more but currently i buy in bulk from Costco so is quite reasonable. They do a good deal on the liquid too but it is a big bottle and i want to make sure i like it first and that my children don't come out in a rash (they had sensitive skin as babies). I'm thinking of buying a small bottle to try but can't decide if i keep non-bio or try bio!!!
So what washing powder do you use and why?
Thanks in advance MP

We use any non bio on special from Makros normally, but tend to stick with either Persil, Ariel or Fairy. ATM we are using Makros own cheap large box of non-bio and is great and smells lovely too. I use Fairy fabric conditioner too. We use liquid if on offer too.

I use Bold 2in1, I always look out for the big box on offer for £4 @ Asda and stock up. I use it because it's got added conditioner in which means I don't have to buy it seperately or faff about adding it to the machine, it brings all the clothes up beautifully even at a 30 wash. I like the idea of liquid but they seem so expensive so don't even consider them.0

Thanks embb and penny-pincher. I was also going to ask about fabric conditioner as currently i don't use it. I can't remember why i stopped but i haven't used it for years now although i was thinking of starting again. I've just looked on Tesco and the tablets i use do seem to be an expensive way of buying, although its not too bad in bulk. Does anyone use own brand products i.e. Tesco?0

Daz for whites nothing comes close for me, then a cheap brand for colours. Daz is on offer in Morrissons at the mo and I only use a small amount to make it last, depending on how dirty the washng is. I soak my tea towels once a week in mild bleach then wash in Daz, brings them up spotless. I wash every day on the lowest temperature, usually its just to freshen things up.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)

There was an old thread on here about mixing detergents to 'stretch' the most expensive nice smelling one. I've just tried it and all is going well. Here is my recap of the advice:
Mix 1/3 expensive detergent (I had bold 2 in 1)
to 1/3 value brand detergent
to 1/3 soda crystals
I mixed them in a big bucket and then transferred them to a large storage container. Made tons! But I know I've saved an absolute fortune and it all still smells like bold 2 in 1 (that purple jasmine one!) (delish!)

Thats a really good idea... Thanks.
I normally used Bold 2in1 tablets... the blue ones.
But a few weeks ago a friend gave me some Bold powder -the pink one - as her OH was allergic to it... so I am gonna try this with that.0 -

Mr T had a brand does "daisy " a bid box powder style and didnt clog up the machine cleaned your clothes and although it doesnt have fabric conditioner leaves the clothes smelling lush and very soft although they dont stock it all the time , and you cant buy it on lineDon't sweat the small stuff, Its all small stuff.0 -
I use Sainsburys Basics Bio powder which is one of the few that doesn't bring ds2 out in eczema. I was using Ecover liquid, but the Basics gets everything cleaner, doesn't have a strong scent and I'm saving loads!“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”
