The very first time I put my glasses on after I needed them re the astigmatism it was a real eye opener. The left hand side of the print was tiny & the right hand side was at least 5 times as big. It just shows how your brain teaches itself to adjust. Luckily back then my distance sight was not affected so I had no trouble driving, unlike Beanie's DS.

Thanks everyone. They did say things may look curved to start with. I’m picking them up next Friday but my son’s are being collected on Tuesday and he will have the same issue. I hope I can get him to persevere with them, although he is really looking forward to getting them. I have managed to bite my lip while I couldn’t feel anything only now I can feel it ☹️SPC #023 SPC 12: £125.86:SPC 13: £214.98: SPC 14: £297.41 SPC 15: £237.27 SPC 16 £335.39; SPC 17 £662.09 SPC 18 £20MFW #21 Mortgage start Dec 2015 £79,950; June 2025 £19,394.00 2025 OP £1589/COLOR]/£2,000 MFiT T6 #3 £19070/£25,500 (72.82%%) MFiT T7 #3 £2050/£21,930 (9.34%)3

What a week and it’s only Wednesday. My glasses aren’t right so I’m using my old ones at the moment. Going in on Saturday to collect my son’s second pair so I’ll be asking them to change mine under their 30 day satisfaction guarantee for just a pair of single vision reading glasses. On Monday evening I discovered an enormous lump (size of an orange) that has appeared on Hetty; she a greyhound so no way I wouldn’t have noticed it before. Visit to the vets yesterday and she got a clean bill of health apart from the lump which isn’t bothering the dog at all, never flinched or anything while being examined. It feels fluid filled so maybe a hematoma but no external injury. Anyway following discussions we decided to leave it as it’s not causing any distress, not even sure she has noticed it at all! Just going to monitor it for the next couple of weeks to see if there is any change.
Had a meeting at work and they have agreed that I can work flexibly 3 days a week and basically nip out to do the school run. It takes about 15 mins in the morning and 20 mins in the afternoon for me to do the round trip so I’ll just amend my start and finish times on my flexi sheet to reflect the time it takes. This means that I can cancel 3 days a week of paid for childcare so that’s nearly £45 a week! Then in the holidays I’ll just book the Wednesday as we will be back in the office and then the odd Friday I need for the monthly workshop things. I can’t begin to explain what a relief this is as the cost was going up so much I was beginning to struggle to pay.
And then yesterday I had the best news for ages. After nearly 4 years on a waiting list I have got an allotment! I’ve confirmed I want it but I’m still waiting to find out which one it is. I walk past them 4 times a day doing the school run, only 24 in a long single line. They are basically half sized plots that run between the road and the back of the houses. Not big enough to build a house on and they obviously didn’t want any houses to have bigger gardens than everyone else. There is one that was taken on a year ago and no one ever seemed to be there or do anything so I think it might be that one. If it is then the unidentifiable fruit trees on the plot need a desperate winter prune. Hoping to find out before the weekend. Let the digging commence!SPC #023 SPC 12: £125.86:SPC 13: £214.98: SPC 14: £297.41 SPC 15: £237.27 SPC 16 £335.39; SPC 17 £662.09 SPC 18 £20MFW #21 Mortgage start Dec 2015 £79,950; June 2025 £19,394.00 2025 OP £1589/COLOR]/£2,000 MFiT T6 #3 £19070/£25,500 (72.82%%) MFiT T7 #3 £2050/£21,930 (9.34%)4 -

Took my glasses back, they were not best pleased but have to change them under their guarantee. Not quite sure what they are doing to them but I was just told they will ring when they are ready. They said if these aren’t right then I will need bifocals; my answer is no I won’t. Hetty still has her lump and it’s still not bothering her. It’s no bigger and I think it might be a little smaller but not by a huge amount. She seems fine so no further worry at the moment. I have been told which allotment I’ve got and I’m meeting the current tenant there on the 7th for a handover. I am so lucky! Not the plot I thought it might be, it’s a plot you can see from my son’s bedroom window 😱. We had a nosey over the gate and there is a shed and a tiny greenhouse and a poly tunnel frame. The cover was torn in a storm but the current guy says I can have it if I want it; it’s one of those 3 x 2 metre ones. There are several dug over plots with hard paving between and really not that many weeds. I really feel extremely lucky. There looks as if there is an apple tree, some raspberries and black currants. We couldn’t see a rhubarb but Mike, my allotment friend who persuaded us to get on the list 4 years ago, has already said I can split the crown he has on his plot. Seed potatoes and some seeds on order and I’ve gone through my existing seed stash. My copy of Monty Don’s Complete Gardener is now living on the kitchen table. As you have gathered I’m very excited!SPC #023 SPC 12: £125.86:SPC 13: £214.98: SPC 14: £297.41 SPC 15: £237.27 SPC 16 £335.39; SPC 17 £662.09 SPC 18 £20MFW #21 Mortgage start Dec 2015 £79,950; June 2025 £19,394.00 2025 OP £1589/COLOR]/£2,000 MFiT T6 #3 £19070/£25,500 (72.82%%) MFiT T7 #3 £2050/£21,930 (9.34%)2
