last year my Mrs answerd the door when i was at work to a bailiff who walked past her into the house and sat down in our front room as she was still closing the door.
I think you should suggest to your Mrs, next time a stranger knocks on the door to speak to the person through the window first. If it is a bailiff, (or anyone else she doesn't want to deal with) get her to tell them to leave and return at a time you will be home. Then close the window and ignore them, if they continue to trespass and knock or breach the peace phone the police.====0 -

we have a sucurity camera fitted now with an intercom, so that gets around that one, but still need to know where we stand so they dont try to pull a fast one again. Not just a white vanman:cool:
I'm no expert in things really but i do have 36 years of experience in life, and some of those years fighting off bailiffs.

yesBailiffs have got a habit of misguiding. Like when they call for council tax they say they are from ****** council and are here to talk about their council tax. They never tell you who they are until you open the door.ONLY COPY WHAT I AM DOING IF YOU ARE 100% SURE AND YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THE END RESULT MAY BE. I totally agree. The BBC is a company funded by the Licence Paying Public, and is, normally known and respected for it's commitment to Public Service.
The Enforcers was the type of 'filler' program that we would expect on one of the lesser known privately owned 'free to view' channels, where it would have attracted an audience of maybe 2 - 3,000 viewers. There was no attempt, by the programme makers, to point out where the 'bailiffs' were acting illegally, nor was there any attempt to suggest that those people who could be faced with 'dealing with bailiffs' do, in fact, have certain rights.
Whilst I appreciate that one of the 'victims' had not paid 19 Parking Tickets - the sum claimed by JBW, of £4,100, equates to over £215.00 per ticket - No mention was made of the fact that the original 'fines' had been grossly inflated by charges that were purely designed to line the pockets of JBW. This particular instance would have been far better dealt with by the Police.
As far as sticking posters on to a car, allegedly with no insurance, only to find out that the car was in fact insured, words fail me.
I do not see what possible justification people like JBW can have for accessing a publicly funded 'Vehicle Number Recognition' system - they are not public servants, and, if the programme is anything to go by, neither are they qualified to interpret and use the information that such a system provides.
The programme portrayed a totally unbalanced picture of the way that Bailiffs are allowed to openly 'flaunt' both the law and the rights of ordinary people.
The BBC should be TOTALLY ASHAMED to have put their name, and our money, behind a programme of such poor quality - I hope it was a one-off.0 -
I actually thought the beat the baliff series was good programming, it was shock tactics which gave them a chance to pull themselves right, can't believe the negative spin in this topic about it, if it had Martins name behind it you would all think it was the best idea ever. Shocking someone then working out a payment plan after showing them how they waste money - is this not what the site is about?
Actually I think the BBC were right to show the documentary as it aired warts and all that is the whole point of following someone in there work, you found mistakes good - shows they were not edited out. Had the BBC aired a totally crisp clean by the book programme on baliffs you would all be moaning that thats not the real world. I think you should stop and think I can think of more contraversial documentaries about real shocking things and the BBC is the place for them its what we expect from them.0 -

noSo why didnt they just pay the tickets in the first place?-if the price didnt increase with non-payment, nobody would pay the tickets in the first place:D:D:D
We, and you rd, are unaware of the actual breakdown of any additional charges. I am not against proportional increases in fees for late payers, providing a. that the tickets were issued legally (it is possible, given the comments of the person who paid, that some tickets were issued as the result of 'over zealous' application of fixed penalty charges to 'delivery' vehicles) and b. that all other avenues for collection, including the courts, were exhausted before handing the matter to the 'bounty hunters', whose sole reason for existence is profit.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

I have received a reply, from ofcom, to my complaint - bit disappointing, but not unexpected:

I am not prepared to let the matter rest, as the programme was biased, misleading and legally inaccurate.
