I saw the program, Jamie Waller (Wally, more like ;) ) did seem a total prat.
I couldn't believe the part in the apartment where the guy opened the door and he then stepped into the doorway saying now that he had crossed the threshold he was entitled to enter!

I wonder where he got his legal training?

I though the program was tantamount to a propaganda film, the way it flipped between the police and bailiffs, almost as if it was trying to insinuate they were both "enforcers" and both had power to act.

isnt it correct then that if they get a foot in they can enter? Do they have to be invited or have all their body in, what is the ruling?

basically if the door os opened then technically that constitues an entry and they have the right to enter the building, same as if the door was unlocked or a window open that they could get through.

I may be having a senior moment, but did have the programme on, was that the one where they pulled that woman uo for no insurance, put the stickers on her car, as they said she had no insurance, then she had a lift of a good samartian (yes as though you would offer a stranger a lift - unless there was a camera crew), and she got done for driving offences.

yet the poor lady in the 1st place had got insurance, - not been updated on the system - Poor woman, Id of gone mad

What bailiffs can and can't do

If County Court bailiffs come to your home, you don't have to let them in.
They can't force their way in on their first visit, but they can enter through an open window, or an unlocked door. Forced entry includes pushing past you once you have opened the door to them or leaving their foot in the door to prevent you closing it. Such action would make the whole process illegal.
Bailiffs trying to recover money you owe to HMRC are allowed to break into your home, providing they have a magistrates' warrant.
Bailiffs recovering unpaid magistrates' court fines, however, do have the power to force entry.

A 'Foot in the Door' does NOT constitute 'peacefull entry'. Neither can a Bailiff push past you to 'gain' entry. NOR does, as the programme implied, closing the door on a bailiff constitute assault.
I have, deliberately, not commented on the programme, until now, but I have to say that the BBC's 'glorification' of this disgusting band of criminals does absolutely nothing to enhance my perception of the role of 'bailiffs' in the collection of debt.
I am surprised that no-one has taken the BBC to task, over this program, as it definitely gave out the message that 'bailffs' such as JBW could both behave, and do, as they wished without regard for the law.
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Why wasn't the driver of the red volvo charged with driving an overloaded vehicle? Why wasn't the owner of the red volvo charged with allowing his vehicle to be used by an uninsured driver? In fact, if VOSA had been present, they'd have thrown the book at the pair of them.

That is the difference with factual and made up story lines.
