Repairs to car almost costing more than left to pay on loan....

  • It was Kia customer services directly who we phoned and they said we weren’t allowed to speak to the warranty team. The warranty team will only communicate with the dealership apparently. Asked to speak to a manager and got told it wasn’t possible.

That is our next step to go back to Arnold Clark to see if they can provide us with a letter stating the parts were Kia approved. We’ve already been there several times because Kia wanted services invoices from before we owned the car and type of oil used during that service etc. We’ve been dealing with this every day for about 6 weeks!

There is no point in 'speaking' to anyone. They know very well that you cannot sue them unless you write.

Write to Kia, or you will keep on getting the run around.

It would appear the Kia 7 year warranty is worthless

No, it would appear that if you have the services at a non-Kia workshop that you have to show that they used the right specification of parts.

ie. pretty much the same as every other manufacturer.

This is why many people pay the extra to have our cars serviced by the dealer during the warranty period.

I agree he's rude and he should not have been.

But looking at it from the other perspective, he's an independent business. If you didn't buy the car from him, and don't have it serviced by him, he doesn't have much incentive. Warranty jobs don't pay terribly well.
