    Morning challengers

    Love reading everyone's posts.

Did a biggish shop yesterday, £43.25 spent in aldeeee.
Meals planned so far: last night we had omelettes with salad. Jersey royals, broccoli and salmon for tonight and mushroom and bean lasagne for tomorrow ( gonna stick ds left over pesto in it to use it up....why can't he just use up the whole jar:mad:) ......my first time making this so wish me luck:D.
Thursday......mmmm not sure yet but the strong contenders so far are either minestrone soup with bread or mixed bean chilli with brown rice. Friday will be vegetarian curry with rice and home made nans.
My grocery bill is looking under budget so far.....shock horror!.....even though it includes 3 bags of cat litter and a bottle of wine. I won't tell Mr van as then he'll no doubt go on a wild spree at the end of the week:rotfl:
But I don't think I'm gonna reach my nsd as I need more brown flour and aldeee didnt have any in yesterday.
One of my spend days was just for milk....the usual culprit! I used to have my milk delivered but had to stop it as they delivered too late for me to take it in so it was outside in the sun all day.

I think I'm declaring for the month... £42.73/£70.

HOWEVER, I know that's not completely accurate.
Normally, I put £70 cash in a separate purse, and that's my groceries for the month, however, this month - for whatever reason - I didn't do that, and I've just been grabbing bits of cash from here and there, from other sources.

I need to get back on the wagon properly.
I think it started to go a bit wrong because April was messed up. I was abroad for a bit over a week, then it was Easter holidays that threw me off my rhythm.
Then May started different to usual with a long weekend in London, where I just spent whatever, and it's been bank holidays, half term etc, etc.

According to my diary, June looks calmer. So I'll be able to keep track properly again!

On another topic, pleased with myself in Tesco. I looked at ice-cream bars for a long time, but resisted buying any! There were a few on special offer, but none that would be my favourites. I've consoled myself that I can have a look in Lidl when I go in next week sometime.
Because it's fun to have money!

I've been spending a bit more these last few weeks as I had some MOC coupons from Sains, Tosco and now Waitrose which are worth having for a change. It means I can stock up on cat food and cat litter and get some YS stuff for the freezer, and tins for the storecupboard.
I just need to find room for it all now.:rotfl:

    Evening all

Not a good start as lost receipts and haven’t kept totals very well but I do know that at least another £200.00 has been spent. Declaring my monthly total at 234.30 but truthfully is most probably more. :o

See you on next months challenge

    Hi guys
I’m finishing May on £98.50/£150 which I am very pleased with. I’m running down my stores due to moving out soon for a month for renovations on our flat. We’ve still loads left so I’m continuing that in June.
The leftover money has gone off the credit card. It’s taken a beating recently because we have a wedding next week and OH hadn’t a suit or smart shirt that fitted because he’s lost over 4 stone at SW and we both needed new summer clothes for our holiday in July. But once we’ve got them they’ll last, we’re not fashionable people so wear the life out of our clothes.
Anyway well done guys on a good month and now upwards and onwards in June.

    Good morning challengers

I'm going to declare as I fully intend today to be a grocery NSD.
I went into aldeee yesterday in hope they had wholemeal flour in store but came out £30 or so lighter. But we do have enough food/meals planned for the next week. Also bought some spring onions and cucumber from morries that weren't wrapped in plastic and I also noticed that my favourite toothpaste was on offer so I bought 4 of those.
I've come in 10p over, but sometimes you gotta live a little dangerously;).
I didn't reach my nsd''s but I really tried my hardest so it could've been worse.
I think the best things to help me stay within budget are meal planning, cooking as much as possible from scratch and staying away from processed foods (although I am partial to the odd fish finger:D), and baking my own bread.......I make all kinds of bread, which I love doing, so this must save me a fortune.
I'm gonna give June's GC a miss as there's a lot of coming and going for us, but I wish everyone good luck:T.
Thank you Elsipac for running this thread, it really helps to keep me in check.
  • It all went a bit mental this month but I'm back on it properly next month! ;)
