    Afternoon challengers

Had a few spends on the trot as I forgot some things so had to go again the next day:mad:

After reading about the hidden plastic in most tea bags, I have bought some loose tea , Mr morries own brand, and I have to say it's very nice. But....I have a dilemma.....it is packaged in a paper box but, the tea is inside a foil type bag, which I think is plastic......so I wonder which product, the bags or the loose tea, have the most plastic???? I have put the foil/plastic bag in my recycling bin in the hope it can be recycled but next next time I buy loose tea I will source more carefully.

I made a yummy (if I say so myself!:D) vegan minestrone soup last night using mainly store cupboard and freezer ingredients (wholemeal pasta, tomato puree, dried herbs, dried lentils, frozen spinach, tins of tomatoes and mixed beans, frozen garlic, frozen celery, frozen carrots and onions). All in 1 pot too so less washing up, very healthy, filling and cheap as chips! I think we'll definately be having that more often.

    Have a lovely weekend everyone.

I’ve got a few spends to declare since my last post. We spent £8 in Costco on one of their pasta bakes on Saturday, (we wanted their chicken enchiladas, but they were out, and I was ill* Thursday, Friday and Saturday so was not in any state to cook).

I'm shocked that you were able to get out of Costco for that little!! :rotfl: You both are so disciplined! I've also had that cold/bug as well, this past weekend. I got it from OH right before he left but even he said it wasn't so bad and to just sleep it off. Thank goodness.

I have a couple of spends to declare as well. Tuesday was a NSD; Wednesday after I went to an organic shop after my first ever acupuncture appointment to get some food to last me the day. I was feeling a bit dizzy and didn't want to take on the task of making a quiche when I got home.

$35.03 on Wednesday for turkey chili from the hot food bar, bananas, blackberries, turkey lasagna and green beans from the food counter, some gross sugar free chocolate ($5), and a bottle of liquid bath soap ($11) that will last me until after I get over to Scotland later this month. I also got a bottle of liquid vitamin B-12 to help with my muscle inflammation (reason for acupuncture) but I'm not counting that in the GC.

$3.26 yesterday at a pharmacy for some toilet paper.

$1.00 yesterday at a local food market for 2 yellow mangoes that really ripe and ready to go.

    TOTALS SO FAR
    $155.99 / $450.00
    8 / 12 NSD

I leave NYC in about 10 days and there's lots of food in my kitchen for me to eat. I'm going to spend some time today cleaning out the fridge and starting fresh so I can really see what there is to eat. I'll have to give some canned food away to a couple of friends; items like canned tomatoes that I'm sure I won't eat in the next 10 days. Off to sniff the milk! :rotfl:

Need to sit and add up for this month so far as have no real idea as to what I’ve spent (all recorded in spends diary, just not totalled!)
Have been doing quite well, deciding to evaluate what I want to keep in freezer/stock cupboard now the DS1 &2 are out and about more/ not eating at home as much, hoping it’ll be cheaper.. :rotfl:

Friday and Saturday were both NSDs for me. Later this Sunday I’m going to get a few veg, salad greens and some fruit. The fridge has a lot of breathing room again and I can finally make sense of it all. I pulled the large side of corned beef from freezer as well as half a pound of ground beef.

I’ll get some potatoes and cabbage to boil with the corned beef. The ground beef I will turn into 6 or 7 mini patties to eat with a bulgur salad for lunches this week; that means a cucumber, a carrot and maybe some tomatoes. Oh and I'll buy a half dozen eggs for some quiche which will take care of my breakfasts.

Pleased with myself last night... Went for a drink and meal with friends... Mentally budgeted £35 all in... Only spent £24.50.

I needed some fresh air and milk this morning. So just strolled up to the local Waitrose and got milk and some fresh soup (been battling a cold/cough thing, and soup is always nice for that). £3 spent.

    £184.21/£300 so far.
I’m happy with that as it does include some bulk buy soaps and shampoos.
Thinking I need to start including all cleaning products and medicine again as keeping separate is a pain & can lead to overspending!

$14.31 at the organic market where I bought the gross chocolate last week. They let me return it opened even though they normally don't do that. The total reflects the $5.33 credit back. I got 2x berries, bananas, cheddar, salad mix, and some potatoes.

$3.26 for toilet paper at the pharmacy

$3.90 for a head of cabbage, a cucumber, cherry tomatoes, and a scotch bonnet pepper at a local fruit and veg market.

$1.73 for two big carrots and a bunch of parsley at the other local market across the street

$2.99 at my corner organic market for a dozen eggs.

I think I'll be okay for food until about Wednesday when I'll likely need to pick up more fruit. I can do that on the way home from a meetup in the evening.
