Corsa 09 diesel failed mot - emission

Brother in law always used to retune the Corsa before an MOT and then reset it after it passed. Not sure how legal this was though.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

[STRIKE]Remove the sticker.[/STRIKE]
Oops, I didn't say that. Obviously, if it's part of the VIN plate, rather than a separate sticker, then it's not going to be that easy anyway.
That apart, just drive the bloody thing harder.
If a smoke value (sticker or on a plate) is on the vehicle at the test and fails, then comes back for re-test without it, the vehicle should be tested again at the same value originally found on the vehicle, even though it’s not there anymore!
Worth a mention
All testers should know this.0 -
I'm sure they should. If a smoke value (sticker or on a plate) is on the vehicle at the test and fails, then comes back for re-test without it, the vehicle should be tested again at the same value originally found on the vehicle, even though it’s not there anymore!
All testers should know this.
I'm equally sure they won't try too hard to remember what that was, given the dozens (or more) of cars they've had through their lane in the interim.0 -

True.
Though emissions print outs are to be retained for three months minimum. So the tester should be referring back.
If this is not conducted for the re-test and a compliance survey (DVSA check) were to occur then it would sanction a disciplinary.
Information regarding this practice was highlighted in the most recent Special Notice 02-19.0 -
My 07 plate diesel A4 (non dpf), it went in early for the MOT but they didn't put it through for 4 days.....(so sat at the garage). It failed on emissions. Put some diesel cleaner (forte) in it, took it for a blast for 30 mins on the dual carriage way and hey presto passed MOT 1 hour later.0
