Sorry but I don't understand what I need to do....

    Just don't pootle everywhere.(??????)

Use all the throttle pedal's travel, (?????)

not just the top little bit.(??????)

Press the loud pedal all the way down and keep it there. You need high revs for a long time.

Go take it for a burn out down the motorway

Put it through its paces - ie stop driving it like and old person on a Sunday drive

I'm not sure how better to describe it.

When you're driving, I bet you only use a little bit of the throttle pedal's travel, right? I bet you never push it all the way to the floor. No, that doesn't mean "over-rev". I bet your driving is almost all short journeys, lowish speed traffic, probably rarely 60 and 70 limits.

That sort of use is about the hardest you can give a car.

The op doesn't do subtle. Drive the thing like you are a getaway driver from a bank robbery. Like Lewis Hamilton is behind you and you don't want him to get past. Like it's a hire car. You get the drift.

    Actually drift...Now there's an idea.

    It's not called a 'dealer's tune-up' for nothing!

As long as the engine is warm, you won't damage it by giving it some hard work to do. In fact, diesels thrive on it. You may even get better mpg afterwards.

Drive on the motorway at 70 mph for at least 20 minutes in 4th gear

If you follow this advice, don't pretend that you are Sebastian Vettel trying to keep Lewis behind you or you might spin your car or end up off the road!
