  • My hallway hasn't dropped below 19 day or night even without the heating on so I have it at 20 for a couple of hours in the morning and 21 in the evening but it only have to heat it up couple of degrees

Don't set the temperature, just click the heating on for an hour when really cold.

Water is on demand hot water.

Gas bill for winter came in under £60 including the standing charge.

    With Scottish Gas.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.

We have a 2 zone CH system.

Zone 1 (most of the house with radiators incorporating TRV's) is 17C overnight then 20C from 6am until 9.30pm

Zone 2 (open plan kitchen extension of approximately 60m2 with concrete floor underfloor heating) is also at 17C overnight but is set to 21C from 6am until 8am which normally puts enough heat into the 8 tons of screed in the floor to see us through the day at 20C+, however, if it gets particularly chilly or we fancy a cosy night in, the wood burner also gets fired up!

Approx 24,000 KWH/Year which costs us about £110 per month over the winter.

    • The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.

October to April with some random hot days. At its peak the winter I'm just coming out there was about 5 hours of daylight; many days were spent in my old job guessing whether there would be any signs of daylight when it got to 10am, then waving goodbye to it at 2pm!

There are also random snow deposits.

I tend to put cardigans and jumpers on, then a blanket before putting the heating on for one hour at night. This keeps the flat warm for the duration of me being up.

Summer gas bill the standing charge was more than the bill :(

I don't use the timer if it's really cold I switch it on and if it's only just a bit cold I fill a hot water bottle and get heat from that. Temperature is set at 18 but if it's on and the daughters come calling they turn it up and I turn it down or off as soon as they go as it keeps the place warm for a good few hours afterwards
Someone please tell me what money is

I've a lot of potential time slots and I've set up my schedule quite carefully. Roughly Mon - Fri 05:30-08:30 20c, 08:30-16:30 18c, 16:30-21:30 20c, 21:30-05:30 16c. Weekends are different with a later start and the morning 20c slot carrying on longer.

At this time of year there will be a lot of times during the day and overnight when the heating doesn't come on at all. In another 2-3 weeks it will be switched to manual with an occasional 1 hour boost of heating. 4 bed house, DD of £83 a month which is too much as I'm just coming out of the heaviest usage of the year with almost £200 in credit.
