Falsely Accused of Theft
Comments

OP has gone from being accused of being a pie thief to an expert in Consumer Law in one day!
Bottom line is they can ban you for any or no reason so instead of pretending you know what you are talking about just go and shop elsewhere.0 -
I'm reminded of this story my Mother sent me from her local newspaper about an incident in a neighbouring town: 'No explanation behind pensioners being banned from Trowbridge coffee shop'.
On the face of it, two sweet old ladies banned from a coffee shop without reason after being longtime regular customers.
Although mixed, comments suggest they were loud, raciest and (let's say) had problems using the toilet in a orderly manner.
Going to the local rag probably didn't improve their reputations.
I just read that article and comments - it is comedy genius - thank you.0 -
Not read the whole thread, and maybe this has already been mentioned but … if they've accused you of theft in front of other people it could be slander. I'd have a word with a solicitor. Maybe find one that does a (cheap) fixed price 30 minute consultation.
The security guard and the manager sound like a couple of thick gits.0 -

Please don't encourage the OP :rotfl: - not sure how she can show her face in the town again. What if the solicitor is in cahoots with the retailer ?
Well we didn't witness the episode. There have been cases (Tesco and Asda) where shoppers have been wrongly accused of theft in front of other people. I recall Tesco had to shell out £50k in one case. Serves 'em right!0 -

Ah, you've never read James Joyce's "Ulysses"?If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -

My money is on Asda.
It's a regular occurrence in my local store for those who hover around at reduction time to approach staff with items that are yellow stickered to get a further reduction. The staff seem to accept it as normal practice from their "regulars".All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

And of course it's fine for them to do that. Equally, the staff could refuse to offer further reductions on items in the customer's trolley. If that happens and the customer then puts it back on the shelf then it's tough on the supermarket. What is objectionable is a member of staff berating a customer, especially in full view of other people. Like the pies, this sort of thing leaves a nasty taste in the mouth. I really hope the OP takes them to the cleaners on this one.0 -
Make up your mind
First you were the only two banned.
Then two others ere also banned and no one else was humiliated.
But then
I know that the other two people who were banned took one item each of fruit after it was marked down because I was there talking to them when a staff member came along and marked the fruit down. I know they were accused of having it in their trolleys before it was marked down and I know this because they told me after we left the store.
Were they not humiliated by being spoken to and banned?0 -

How will the OP do that?0
