Is anyone else just watching this now just in case?
  • So I'm new to all this, I filed first SA on the 8th, I completed it wrong first time but quickly rang HMRC who said that I can amend it, which I did and was shown calculation on screen. I phoned yesterday to ask a question about it, the person allocated to my call said they were performing security checks... although after reading this thread how likely is this or were they trying to get me off the phone ?
    Pls help
  • Unfortunately if its in security checks it will be a while before you get the payment. Last year I waited five moths for a return that was in security checks. I even asked them if they needed receipts, statements, payslips and invoices and the responses were... We understand your frustration but there's nothing we can do about it. Later on it went into an investigation and then they asked for the same paperwork I offered to send before they asked. Hmrc are to backlogged and no staff. Good luck to you buddy. Hope you get it fast.
  • Their basic checks are to make sure the payer is the right person. There’s are standard checks on every case and can take up to 10 days Then there’s extra checks that can 2-4 weeks
  • DO NOT call or live chat hmrc, as this will 80% result in going through security checks

I contacted Live Chat the other day and asked what was happening with the refund. Was advised it will take 10 working days unless selected for security check. I asked if our claim had been selected for a security check and they advised there was no way of them checking this information. Strange they tell people different info
  • To be fair the 10th working day of new tax year is actually Tuesday 23rd.
