HFC loan - PPI policy document

Does anyone have examples of the HFC Bank PPI policy documentation which would have been issued in 2004 ? My wife had a policy with PPI from this date and made a claim in October 2005 but the payments were stopped in March 2006 after 6 months despite her long-term illness. We have a complaint in with the FOS but we do not have any PPI policy documentation to show for how long PPI payments would have been made. The FOS are telling us some policies paid only for 6 or 12 months rather than up to the full term of the loan (which is her case was 60 months). Can anyone help with generic examples of HFC PPI documentation ? Did they ever have a 6 month cap on payments ? HSBC (who now own HFC) are being most unhelpful.

Given you're adamant you have a claim from 13yrs ago presumably you've kept the supporting documentation. If not what's the basis of your claim now ? or are you just fishing :mad:0 -

Ultimately it makes no difference - any successful claim would be deducted from any PPI mis-sale complaint- with regards to any issues with the original claim then your complaint would be considered time barred as the time to complain was some ten years ago at the latest.0

My point remains... any issue you have with the term of the payout of the successful claim would be considered time barred, it’s not a matter of debate just simple facts.0

I think I now understand your point. Are you referring to the 6 year rule which applies (for example) to civil remedies in the County Court ?
There are 2 rules for finance complaints:
6 years from point of taking out the package
3 years from when you knew (or should reasonably have known) you had a reason to complain
6 years is obviously met
The 3 year point would have started when you were told the policy paid out only for 6 months (though of course that would be already covered in the paperwork she signed up to, so is a moot point anyway)Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Nas beat me to it, as said you had six months from event occurred date or three months from when you ought reasonably had cause to complain - both would be deemed to be 13 years ago and as such way outside of any timescales financial service providers have to consider.0

Should months not be years?0 -
