I can't see any mention of requiring the usual 2 active Direct Debits set up.

Have I missed something or can you have this account with NO Direct Debits at all ?

This is correct. No direct debits are required however the Reward current account pays 2% cashback on the following if paid by direct debit.

Council Tax, water, gas, electricity, mobile, landline TV package and broadband..

I applied to RBS for the switch, on the RBS website (browser history checked to be 100% sure!). Next thing is they opened me a Natwest account... ???

Also during the application process, there was zero mention of account switching, so whereas I wanted to switch my Tesco to an RBS account, I now have an empty Natwest account!

I am already a Natwest customer. I wasn't logged in. I applied to RBS online at 0400 as I was on night shift - so it could well be some odd IT glitch.

What would you do? I'm only interested in the £125 - the extra £50 isn't worth a year of admin in my opinon. RBS customer service agreed something weird had happened and gave me the number for the switching team. Do I stick with the Natwest opened in a questionable dodgy data sharing breach or complain about what happened?

Do you think setting up a reoccurring online card payment eg Netflix would count as the ‘using debit card once a month’?

Hadn't thought of this - suddenly the monthly debit card usage just got a lot more appealing for that extra £50.

"... we’ll pay £125 into your eligible current account by 9 August 2019"

Probably first week of August then.

Well I just switched my HSBC across, was actually very impressed with the whole NatWest application process within 10 minutes I was all done!

Being offered a £4,000 overdraft also seemed very generous, not that I accepted it!
  • Just a word of warning, i have nothing but problems with my switch.

They haven't correctly take my direct debits over and the staff are extremely unhelpful. I have provided evidence of their failures and they are still claiming they have done it correctly.

I have contacted the CEO and the Financial Ombudsman about this but it is still going nowhere

    Having issues with my swtich.

Switching a joint account from Nationwide. Application made end of May plenty of time before end date (so I was told) Got a letter to sign which I returned next day.
Have called them three times now as not heard anything and I get paid next week whi is bulk of our income.... last pay before 12th July which is one of the terms.
They say our application had been processed and to be patient as they have a backlog.
Been three weeks now and still no nearer to switching the account.

    Anyone else having this delay?
