I haven't seen a lot on here about this offer, so thought I would report in on timescales for getting the money in case others are searching.

    - I referred my husband and he opened a TSB account on 20 June.

    - One DD set up against this straight away.

    - Switched donor bank account which completed on 19 July. Said bank account had 2 active DDs but was concerned one would not pull within 28 days of the switch and wasn't sure if TSB would "see" it until then, hence the extra one also set up directly above.

    - Funded with £500 24 July.

    - 2 x DDs pulled (one already on the account, one brought in via switch) on 1 August.

    - £75 each received on 2 August.

So all very quick especially given I had low expectations of this going right!
  • Hi

I also currently have a TSB current account and was wondering if TSB will buy it if you close your account and then someone refers you.

The TSB T&Cs say you can't have a current account at the time of the referral, but they don't say you must never have had an account or not since a specific date, like the First Direct and HSBC switch bonus T&Cs do respectively. So technically you should be allowed the switch bonus. But if other's have tried this before and failed because TSB think you are playing the system, then it would save me closing my account for nothing.

I thought I'd post here and see anyway.

It has been done successfully, yes. Probably easiest to switch out and then back.
  • Does anybody know if TSB were doing joining incentives early to mid 2018. I just can't remember and didn't take a note of it. I left when they lowered my interest . But £75 and 3 % isn't to be looked past.

I don't think they were. They didn't have to in the first quarter when they were paying 5%. And they had all their troubles with the IT upgrade in the second quarter so for many people no amount of incentive would have enticed them to switch! Apologies. Please ignore. See below.

Looks Like I must have already had it then! Shame. Still the 3% current account may still be worth it with the shambles of my regular savers all about to mature and not be 5% anymore!

Is anyone willing to refer me to TSB?

Be wary of a 'newbie' offering you a TSB referral on the Referrals Board. They will be offering something like, 'I will share my £75 with you. I will keep just £15 and will forward to you the remaining £60 when you switch'.
I fell for this patter, and guess what? They didn't honour it.

Where is the referrals board - I can’t seem to find it!
