Better offers from BT after starting process of moving to new provider?

I switched from BT to Plusnet and BT would not offer me a discount. A few days after the switch had taken place, BT contacted me to offer me a discount! BT are so incompetent at times.
It's got nothing to do with incompetence, it's the agents job to try and retain you on as high a fee as possible, their options are limited to what's in front of them at the time.
I was on Sky ADSL (out of minimum term) when I moved house, the speed drop was enough to make me move up to fibre and the best they could offer was £30 a month against £20 for NowTV (like BT & Plusnet their parent company is Sky).
Only after I'd initiated the switch did Sky offer me £25 a month, still dearer so I'm now on NowTV (12 months later now £25 a month but with anytime calls thrown in).0 -
Just signed up with Now BB, is £25 a month for 12 months with evening and weekend calls and £90 cashback through Topcashback site making it £17.50 a month for BB of up to 36mb, we only use BB for email internet and the occasional Netflix so will be fine
Have been on BT 50meg but rarely above 35-40mb and recently not even enough to Facetime people on, Facetime was ok when i turned off Wi Fi and used my 4G data on phone
Did not bother trying to deal with BT again as i dont mind switching and loyalty to any company is now a thing of the past as new customers get good deals and the existing customers pay a higher price than necessary to subsidise them
I recieved the welcome email from Now and recieved one from BT at the same time, Sorry you are leaving BT with a long list of thinks i may miss with leaving BT, so Now must inform BT staraight away that a customer is moving suppliers0 -

Have you actually got NowTV already? 1Mbps is more than enough for Facetime so if the problem isn't the WiFi/router or a possible firewall issue then you may have problems with your connection generally which won't go away with a different supplier.0 -
As above reads as something wrong with your setup .
BT 50 meg is UP TO .
If your speed is 35- 40 then thats usually the max your line is capable of no matter the supplier .
But speed must be measured at the master socket and never over wifi .0 -
To the end of contract, Infinity 1. Now seems to be Superfast Fibre @ 50Mb but that’s not an issue for me as I’m a one person household and my heaviest use would be Netflix and YouTubeBungaroosh wrote: »What broadband speed were you after?
I started the process with PlusNet today and for landline+fibre they’ve given me pretty much the same sped, I opted for anytime calls, which surprisingly enough seemed to include calls to mobiles plus a £75 debit card with a download of : 31 - 40Mb for £31.99. It was probably the £75 and mobile calls that done it for me.
So what’s the next move: contact them, say, Monday / Tuesday or wait until they contact me. To be honest if there was only a few pound in it I’d still opt for BT

Start haggling with BT today and couldn’t get them to move below £29.99 for landline and web plus weekend calls (not evening) plus an extra £5.00 if I want for anytime calls Total £34.99
On the other hand PlusNet were offering £23.99 for internet and line rental plus £8 if I want anytime calls. In addition £50 bonus. Leaving the bonus aside that’s 31.99. Not much in it.
You keep saying if there's only a few pounds in it you'd stick with BT, so at £3 per month difference, you've went ahead so it seems its not enough for you to stay with BT.I started the process with PlusNet today.
To be honest if there was only a few pound in it I’d still opt for BT.
It's how much you value saving yourself £36 per year, how important is it that mobiles are included in your call allowance (plus your extra £50 cash) versus taking a £3 per month more expensive deal, and no mobile calls included but with a service you know and have no problems with.
In saying that, some people have been able to get BT for slightly cheaper than the £30 per month, but only some. And now that you've went ahead with the switch there is no harm in giving them one last call. Good luck

PN billing system down again might be a big negative.0

Considering Plusnet is a BT company I don't understand why they can't match each other's prices - would make things so much easier for everyone surely?
Someone mentioned that Vodafone uses OR fibre - however this is changing. Vodafone have just finished FTTH in my area - OR still only have FTTC and it is in Vodafone strategy to increase their own fibre network..0
