PS Shaggy, when I agreed with Glenda I wasn't meaning to "do down" the article, it's just that I agree with her that there is scrutiny where women are concerned that men are still not subjected to, and also I kind of gave up on diets a while ago because of the conflicting advice and because none of them seem to really work long-term for most people. I should have said thanks for posting the link though.

Honestly, no worries. You make a lot of valid points. It's just that I need to shift a good few pounds for a party I've been invited to in August. For many on here, weight and alcohol is one and the same, for all the time I've been on this thread we've talked about the weight gain from alcohol...can't have one with out the other....What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again.
