I'd give this 100 thanks if I could! If we all write to the forum team it may make a difference. I wrote back and said I wasn't asking for details of what she may or may not have done but whether we could vouch for her and whether it was possible to give her a second chance in view of the fact that she has been an exemplary member of MSE for so many years. I might actually write to the CEO too, why not!

Would the powers that be listen, do you think, to an appeal based along the lines of this being a support thread for what is essentially a health issue, and preventing access to it could have a very negative effect on well being?

I've had exactly the same response from the Forum team as Cathy. Mind you at least they responded, after that boiler plate email this morning I wasn't expecting to hear back. OK, I get the privacy side but with no way to check in with her it's all very very horrid and discombobulating. Having been on the forms ages I have never seen someone good get banned like this, only the yukky trollers and spammers. I think something to show how well liked she is - perhaps we could start a new thread called We love Maman, please bring her back soon and ask for support on all the other threads she posts on? And perhaps message Martin or something. Maybe one of those tweet thingies if any of us are actually on there and willing to break anonymity.

Ok not sure if any of this is a good idea or not so will see what your thoughts are...

I have tried sending Maman a private message but have had no response so I guess she cannot read or post at all ☹️. We need to try and do something on her behalf to try and get her reinstated.

I’m sure banned posters can rejoin under a new/different username, wasn’t there someone on here last month, can’t remember the usernames (sorry) but they were banned under one name then rejoined under a new username with a message that their previous username had been “grounded”. So there must be a way round it. Whether one should have to do so is another matter...

I sent Maman a private message too, not sure if she can read it but when someone sends me a private message it arrives in my email inbox and I can read the contents of the message independent of this website, so I thought there was a chance she can read the messages even if she can't access MSE. I asked MallyGirl if it was within the MSE rules to message maman with my contact details and she wrote back and said no. It's very frustrating that we can't contact her properly. I think Season of Mist's idea is a good one and so is WBF's. Season of Mist, think banned people are not supposed to join under a new username at all, apparently, which is why K9 last month got banned again so quickly.
