Good morning everyone.
No AF days to report for the weekend but I wanted to check in.
A planned drinking day on Saturday, an aperol spritz and two glasses of wine with dinner, and an unplanned but very joyful glass of bubbly on Sunday with a good friend who told me that she was to become a grandmother 🍾. About 10 alcohol units in all. I don't plan to drink today but as usual I will report tomorrow. X3 -

You said last week that you didn't drink when you went out so are you just trying to break a habit of home drinking? Did you drink on particular occasions? I'm just curious (aka nosey😉 so don't feel you have to answer.4 -

You're doing really well Rob. 😀

No, no occasions; just a habit really, which can be controlled. I've also given up coffee at home (easy), choc-ices (tricky!) and cut down sugar, fat and salt intakes are pretty low too. I think it's age; I'm 64 now and think I might as well make a bigger effort to make my remaining years reasonably healthy. I do like to drink, not necessarily alc', but juice or fizzy water - maybe it's the volume. I don't touch spirits, wine I think is a 'sharing' drink so none of that since 2017! My last hols (Menorca) I didn't even drink then.
I'm not saying I'll never drink a lager or glass of wine ever again, but the way I feel at the moment, I don't have the need or want.
I put £5 a non-drink-day in an account; so far this year I'm £805 up! I know £5 seems a lot but it's more of an incentive than 20p!
Let's look at drink - why give up?
1. Costs money - mostly in TAX
2. Does you no good.
3. Makes you do/say/type things you wouldn't sober (How many fights outside nightclubs are fuelled by Perrier water?!)
4. Empty calories and lots of them. No nutritional value whatsoever.
There! That's a start. My fund (5-a-day!) has so far paid for 2 guitars, 2 trips away (Menorca, Croatia), two tips to Belgium. Money I would otherwise have poured down my gullet.
So there it is. Cracking read, eh?!Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!4
