Good luck K9. I for sure would find it difficult too. Sounds like she would benefit in joining you, but seeing you cut back and not have a “partner in crime” as much, might make her question her own intake.Keep posting it really helps. Especially as the days start to tot up.2/18 for me please.Live for the moment and plan for the future4

Well done K9 - especially with the temptation of wine in front of you. I would definitely be interested in your verdict on the McGuigan’s AF wine.
Seem to have found it a bit easier this week and have managed to be AF Monday through to Thursday (did have a little wobble yesterday evening but it passed 😉).
2/10 for today please cathybird3 -
Well done sukey. 👏
It feels good to be back in the Monday to Thursday routine. I wobbled a lot at the start of lockdown. 🙂4 -
Well I opened the bottle of shiraz (didn't smell very appealing)sukeyboo said:Well done K9 - especially with the temptation of wine in front of you. I would definitely be interested in your verdict on the McGuigan’s AF wine.

Lady Deville had the first taste (no wine for her today but I did buy her two small cans of ready-mix). Cocktail I mean, not cement - took a sip and "ugh"
TBH not sure if I'd buy it again, but the taste will help me to sip rather than 'glug' and it's 0% anyway.
For £3 a bottle and a third of the calories or less of alcoholic wine, it will distract me from my toothache this evening at least.
Will give a verdict on the white and the sparkling probably over the next day or two.
Definitely shan't drink any alcohol tonight so 2/TF already this month!

Welcome to thread K9 and good on you for an encouraging start to July. You know, this is interesting. I have often thought that a partner’s behaviour with drink can and does make such a difference. My better half now is completely teetotal and has been for many years - alcohol just does not feature in her life at all, and boy it makes things easier. I’ve had two long-term partners in the past who both liked a drink, let’s say, and that just meant my own drinking went up and up. One girl in particular, I don’t know why, but she really had a thing about not wanting to drink solo, and she would really put pressure on me to join her. During the time I lived with her, was at a stage in my life when I definitely did not need much encouragement to knock it back, and consequently I rarely had any days off at all from drinking. I recall many times when it would be a proper school night, like a Tuesday or Thursday, I’d have nothing planned and would think to myself, “great, quiet night in tonight, I could do with that” and then she’d get in from work holding a couple of bottles, “oh I just stopped at the shops on the way back to get a couple of bits and saw this wine on offer, thought we could have these after our tea...” and like that, it’s another evening where I’m helping to empty a bottle - or two. Or she’d say, “I really feel like nipping down to the Offy but it’s got dark now, can you walk down with me?” - which I could hardly say no to - and then when we got there it would be “oh come on, I’ll get you something while we’re here, what do you want, go on...”.
If that all sounds a bit feeble on my part, well, you’re probably right. I was an adult and could have dug my heels in anytime and said No, or at least, No thanks, not for this one night anyway. But it never seemed to happen like that.
In a very long-winded way I’m agreeing that a partner’s behaviour with drink really can be a huge influence on our own.5 -

Sums things up nicely for me as well @Season_of_Mist!
I've previously stopped drinking alcohol for many weeks, but the last year it's been too regular. We used to 'share a bottle' most nights which was excessive IMHO anyway, but over time this has morphed into a bottle each as a habit, lately been giving some of 'my' bottle to Lady Deville, so I reckon I was on about 500ml a day average for most of that time.

Real life means I have to withdraw for a while and won't be on diaries, but I will be back when things settle down for me. Thanks for all your hard work cathybird. Keep doing great everyone!
