Giving up/ Cutting Down Alcohol Thread Part 16

Glad to hear that you plan to be on here quite a bit, Shaggy. Between the changes to the forum and the current situation, this thread has become very sparsely populated. It would be interesting to know if this thing is likely to make people increase their drinking. Staying in a lot more...boredom sets in...anxious thoughts for some...financial worries...other, healthy alternative activities now curtailed...it would be understandable if the net result of this was an upturn in drinking for some. I hope that isn’t the case.
I did navigate through the weekend AF, so I am up to 16/28 thank you Shaggy, and thanks as always for keeping this going.

I'm sorry to confess I am in the drinking more group. Another Londoner, I got back to the UK Sunday but I didn't get my planned AF days in yesterday and today. Sleep well everyone.6

15/TF for yesterday please Shaggy. Thank you. X
So far this month I have drunk less than I expected. I went TF in March because I was going on holiday and had several social events planned, these plans of course haven't happened. I don't know how the situation will affect my drinking longer term; I hope not adversely I have worked so hard to only drink on special occasions and holidays. I used to be a daily drinker and don't want to go back to that.4 -
Morning all, it's 12/21 for me today

I had a really good evening out yesterday at my dancing class. It was probably the last social occasion that I'll be going to for some months. It was good to meet up with friends and the exercise was great for the sense of wellbeing as well as the more obvious fitness. I'm luckier than most in that I'm not going to be 'Home Alone' and DH and I plan to get out for walks regularly. I know boredom can be a huge trigger for drinking so I'm going to try very hard to avoid that. It's target day for me today but I'm still hoping to get a fair few more AF days in before the end of the month. Many cancelled social events should help with that. Perhaps we'll see a big increase in annual figures??
10/10 AFDs please Shaggy

Hello everyone. Still here. Calling in with 1/7 for tonight. Hoping to knuckle down and not drink as mental health is suffering with all that is going on. Have a houseful of offspring working from home now. It’s going to get very stressful. Sorry about holidays getting cancelled. DD has had a big trip called off so we have that to try and claim back. She was meant to be leaving her current job this month but I suggested she offered to stay on longer as in healthcare and they will need all hands on deck. Worrying times for us all.Total weight lost 6.5/73lbs starting yet again. Afds August 10/15. /8 Sept.4

Hi Guys,I wasn't AF last night. DH opened a bottle of red. BUT I WILL BE AF TONIGHT as I have now drank 5 nights in a row and I'm feeling a bit calmer today (I think).ShaggyXxWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.4

It's really sad isn't it? Hopefully we'll all be back doing what we enjoy soonish. Mind you whenever I feel a bit sad I chastise myself. Imagine being on the front line of this horror. Both in the NHS, in a school or in a supermarket.

Arsenal Barnie Well done on all that weight loss in your signature. In some ways I feel little bit more shielded than before the lockdown. Nobody getting on the tubes and trains, DH not travelling around the world.Weird times. What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again.
