Thanks for the welcome Marahouti[/B. And you're right, I do need to check in regularly. I'm really going to try for an AF month ahead but I must also realise it is going to be very hard.
I am trying to focus on the good things and fill my time with them. The days are fine, it's around the 6 o'clock time when it all falls apart. I feel like most of my life ever since my parents split up, very acrimoniosly, when I was just turned 12. I'm 53 next week so that feels like a long time. I spent alot of my teenage years drinking. There has always been stress; job as a teacher for 28 years, 3 children now aged 21, 24, 26 who have all returned to the nest, husband with two bouts of cancer about 10 years ago but thankfully now fine, plus all the usual family/money/house stuff we all have. The saving grace is that my marriage is very solid. But I definitely drink to alleviate stress. The least little thing that comes along these days seems to push me over the edge. It's time to change. I need to face my demons, tackle the stress issues, come to terms with my mistakes and let it all go. Im feeling more positive than I have for a while now so I'm going to try my best.
loveasale- I hope the drink demon slips off your shoulder a while so you can take stock and see things clearly. I know it muddled my thinking for sure.
Thank you everyone0 -

But I’ve also done some thinking and sep 6 tf:money: I will never be rich but I'm happy :rotfl:0 -

Well done slowdown!! It’s a great step especially on a Sunday ,, I am a similar type of drinker as you ,, no bloody stop button !!!
I describe myself as a big drinker who cannot handle their drink ,, BF is the oppersite he can and drink and not have any effect,, other times he can 1 or 2 then go on to cuppa !
Oh how I wish I could do that !
I was very similar in my smoking habits , lots of friends on,y smoked when on a night out , I smoked day and night ,, until about 9/10 years ago , then not had a puff since , but my social smoker friends still do , as they can take it or leave it !!:money: I will never be rich but I'm happy :rotfl:0 -

Some very honest posts over the weekend. Well done slowdown and loveasale for tackling the drinking:T. It's one thing in [STRIKE]your [/STRIKE] our lives that [STRIKE]you[/STRIKE] we can control. Keep us posted (literally;)).
No plans to drink here today.
13/10 AFDs please Shaggy.0 -
15/15 please - success this month and hope to get one or two more as well.
Well done slowdown, there have been months, August, when having 1 AFD was too hard.
Lovasale, hope you manage to have that conversation, but as everyone else has said, sober is the best time it do it. Personally I cry very easily but even more so when I've had a drink and then get angry that I'm crying - not a good way to get any message across!0 -
Same here Maggie , big fat cry baby , and as I said I don’t want to be a silly woman making a deal over nowt , especially as he has enough on , so have decided to not drink and when I see him at the weekend I will then , in my sober head decide whether to bring it up or not ?
We face time all the time , but it’s really a conversation to have in person !
That said I’ve really mulled over it ,,,constantly in my head,,,,,,!:money: I will never be rich but I'm happy :rotfl:0
