  • Morning all. Been awol with social things to go to. Haven’t overdone it and was nice to get out after being at home so long after my op. Need to take it easy again though. Rest wise and alcohol and food. Would love another loss on Weds at tubby club. So no more afds to report but hoping a day of healthy eating will spur me on to an afd today. Will report back in the morning.

    Hello
13/18 today. I drank yesterday and felt awful, I'm starting to think that I just do g want to do it any more. I feel relieved now when I don't drink and am really beating myself up when I do, even though I'm not doing anything wrong!
I'm going to try my hardest to stay 'dry' until at least 31st August, when I have a wind and cheese do with friends.

One glass of red with dinner last night so yesterday wasn't AF. I found myself thinking it was a waste of a drinking day to have just the one.

This morning I was reading an article about the effect of alcohol if you are working out and it said moderate drinking was one drink for a woman, two for a man. I am thinking that alcohol has got me well in its clutches if a day I drink moderately feels like a waste / not enough to be worth bothering with.

Wanna Bee Free, this is something people often say on this thread, that if they have one drink they feel it's an AFD wasted, but you're right that one drink is actually moderate, restrained drinking, and if people have two-thirds of a bottle or more instead then they often feel guilty that they've had too much. Probably it's not just about the amount of alcohol but also whether people enjoyed it and felt it fitted in with the occasion and added to it? I don't know but I don't think anyone should beat themselves up about only having one glass of wine - that's brilliant, it seems to me.

Don't feel guilty that you didn't say straight away about the AFD because you did eventually say, and you did tot up the correct number of AFDs - I'd be more worried about people posting an AFD when they know it wasn't and not correcting it later.

You know you are very consistent, even if it doesn't feel like it, in that you've been a member of this thread for ages and you keep pegging away and showing up, which is at least half the battle. x

Is anyone else like me, can go without a drink, but if I have one, there's no off switch?

    8/24 AFDs today
  • Barny I don’t have an off switch but since my op I can’t seem to drink more than 3 which is a good thing.

Well I cracked and had some wine yesterday. I shan’t be having any tonight, will check in in the morning.

Morning all, 16/21 for me today please. :)

Barny, I find it depends a bit on where and what I'm drinking - I think I had quite a bit at the party the other day and only stopped when I left, but if I was buying drinks in a restaurant or bar I think I'd stop sooner. I used to be much worse than I am now because this thread has really helped. I do have an off switch these days but sometimes it can be hard to find it!

Barny, I like to be free to drink whatever I want on chosen drinking days. MY DH drinks a similar quantity to me over a week but he just has a couple of tiny glasses each evening. I'd rather save it for weekends and not feel constrained. That being said I have found my tolerance levels have dropped since I've been having AF days so on drinking days I know my limit and often stop and switch to soft drinks mid evening for a break before having perhaps a nightcap later. :)

It's all bonus days for me this week.

    12/10 AFDs please Shaggy

Sorry but I don't know why I can't do colours on the desktop.:(
