Absolutely not my fault!

Kim Kim, no one is telling you these things to be nasty, they are seeing a pattern that you are not and are asking you to address what's going on in your life recently thats making you a careless driver
My first year of driving I had numerous scrapes and near misses, mostly because I was still a new driver and possibly not the best. Then I went for years without a thing, till the menopause , then suddenly I was driving badly again, making silly mistakes (thankfully got away with them all) and I started to become nervous about driving, avoiding motorways when I really had to and just basically avoiding all the driving I could
Ive since been to the gp about my high levels of anxiety around just about everything, Im on medication, and now Im back driving confidently and safely
I have to drive, there's no public transport , and the cost of getting a taxi to drive out this far to drive me back into town and return trip is prohibitive. I need to feel confident and be able to read the road about me, not be in the brain fog I was in, getting from A-B with no recollation of the route in-between
It really is worth being honest with yourself about how you are health wise, mentally and physically
My claim 13 years ago (not 12 as I said earlier), was my first insurance claim at almost 40.0 -

I guess I was hoping someone would tell me they’d be able to tell by the damage to the car he’d driven into a stationary object - me.
Because I don’t have a dash cam or cctv or a witness.0 -

Sadly no one is going to tell you that, least of all your insurance company!!
This was the aftermath of my first 'proper' accident, I was traveling along the main road minding my own buissness (white car on the pavement) and got T-boned by the blue car not stopping at a junction/give way sign. Not only did he smash his car to pieces he spun me around 180 with enough force to damage the chassis.
Despite the pretty obvious course of event the third party denied fault initially - citing I was partly to blame for the accident due to indicating and starting to turn into a side road. If I didn't have dash cam footage of the accident I have a feeling my insurance company would have settled at 50:50.
The acid test for the insurance companies is if the case ends in court have you provided them with enough to proof to say with 100% certainty you weren't at fault. If there is any doubt its cheaper for them to settle 50:50 rather than a long drawn out case to establish blame. Sadly your word against theirs is pretty useless 'evidence' without third party collaboration or video proof.
Seriously life is too short to worry about such minor things, let the insurance companies sort it out. Though it sounds like he might not have been insured/or wanted to claim either, in which case both of you can just leave things as they are and in future the in doubt don't just go for the gap - Waiting an extra few seconds to give way has never cause any one harm.0 -
If what you say happened did so, then you probably drove a bit inconsiderately but were not at fault for the damage. The van driver, who hit your stationary vehicle, was. The problem is, in the absence of witnesses or other evidence, unless he admits liability, you won't be able to prove that so it will probably end up, at best (and it could be worse) a 50/50 agreement.0

I didn’t contact mine yet - I didn’t get his name and address or give him mine, he was in such a rush to get off.
I was hoping it was a mistake he gave me the wrong number and he’d contact me .
Have you reported it via 101 to the Police? If you haven't swapped details then you must both do this. The fact that he may have given you false details might get him into a lot of trouble. Failure to report can carry quite a few points.0 -

Look I get where you are at, I really do
Im just echoing others in saying there has to be something hapening with you, that your judgement is impaired
Mum has more scrapes then enough on her car - of course all done in Tesco car park by other cars and trolleys ( my ****). Her judgement is failing her - age - but the GP has signed her safe to drive for now, And as a whole she is pretty safe to drive, but she's getting alloy damage and wee scrapes and pings. Mum has to accept that her driving days are coming to an end, thats something Im working on.0 -

I was going to call them at the time - because of him lying.
But then I figured they wouldn’t be interested.0 -

The fact that there is a chance that he has deliberately given you a false number they may be more interested. If you son't report it, then you are committing an offence also. I'd get in before he does, if I were in your position.0
