Are you sure that price is for 2nd class on ebay? As of a couple of months ago it was £1.01 to send a 100g large letter 1st Class so that would seem to be a huge increase. I'd double check that.
  • RM price increases took place as of 25/03/2019.

Sadly £2.26 is not applicable when you use 'import' from Ebay :-(

RM prices went up last Monday and we had a few threads about it on here including this

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5980400/reminder-rm-price-increase

They didn't go up a great deal though, and in fact as at yesterday eBay shutl parcels 2nd class were coming up at £2.90 compared to the Rm price of £3. Are you using like for like when checking as the price limit for large letters goes up at 100g , so you might be looking at one price below 100 and one above.

From what I saw on the Hermes website earlier, the "postable" option does not have any compensation cover.

I agree, I did a dummy quote and the postable does not carry any insurance.

Insurance kicks in on the normal parcels etc up to £20

Im needing to post an item that would qualify for 'portable'. Right enough, no cover, so thanks for pointing it out! Think I'd rater pay £0.60 and have an extra piece of mind and just save myself some time by using import. So typical though, they introduce a new service, which in theory sounds great but in practice...
