Update - despite someone at Tesco signing for my driving licence on Wednesday its been lost. The CS team have been great but have just had to admit to me today (after advising on Friday that the licence was being scanned and funds would be transferred today at the latest) that the licence was never scanned. Its being investigated by managers as to where it has gone/been misplaced but after a 30 minute phonecall on my lunch break, I'm still no further on as to its whereabouts. I don't even care about the funds now, I just want clarification of what has happened by driving licence. Has anyone else had a similar situation?0

I know it's a bit late now but the first thing i thought when you said you were sending your driving licence was that it's a bit risky because you would have to pay for a replacement if it gets lost plus you had the extra expense of special delivery.
Personally i would have just sent a council tax bill because they seem to always be posted and i don't know any councils where it's only paperless (i wonder if there are any?).0 -

As to the OP, he/she clearly states in post #1;Loopslou72 wrote: »lets face it, who's not paperless these days0 -

So I think your suggestion is not likely to help.
My council doesn't offer a paperless option on their online portal even though i setup my account completely online!.
But my council don't charge for sending extra copies in the post either so this probably would have been better for the OP to request a copy of one to send off.
Considering that the longer they take to pay the more money you get it would have been better for the OP to take the time to get a paper copy rather than spending money on special delivery to send away their driving licence.0 -

The wisest move for the OP would have been to arrange a branch visit where his ID could have been checked and scanned without it leaving his person.
Regardless of all this, his attempts to hurry his redress payment have been singularly unsuccessful. His one consolation is that the interest is still accruing while he waits. Hopefully his Driving Licence will be found and returned to him, but obviously the cost of any replacement will be borne by Tesco.0 -

I'm based in NI and rent so don't get a council tax bill and when I went through everything with them that I had in my address most was unacceptable. I did send the licence special delivery so it was tracked. Its been confirmed today that they have it in their possession and I was reassured late yesterday evening that if it had been lost that they would be covering the expense of replacing0 -

I was advised that I couldn't go to a Tesco and show my ID which was why I took the risk and sent in my driving licence, as much as I didn't want to. I wasn't attempting to "hurry" redress as I had already been given the wrong information regarding the payment date (it was confirmed to me that payment would be in my account not later than 1st April then it all went "tits up") Thankfully I've had confirmation that my licence is now being returned back to me special delivery (thank god I sent it that way and paid extra for compensation). I agree wholeheartedly that sending in original documents is risky and that passports etc should be collected in person if possible, I had a sleepless night last night that's for sure worrying about the consequences of fraud (in total drama queen fashion lol)
I've actually changed my banking status so that I will now get quarterly paper statements as our electricity bill and TV licence are in my husband's name - better to be prepared if I'm asked again for proof of ID as I go push my way through the PPI circuit. Oddly enough, M&S recently paid my claim and didn't even ask for proof of change of name, let alone address.0 -
