Next Pay - unrequested card

Interested to hear some opinions on the Next Pay card which I just received but didn't request. Next say I just need to destroy it if I don't need it, but I don't like that it might then remain on their system and wonder if it might be on my credit score. Also they claimed it's not a credit card, but it has a credit limit of £5000 on it and an interest rate of 23.9% APR variable, so how does that make sense?! Thoughts?

Contact them, tell them you didn't request it, ask them to cancel it. simples!0

It’s just a store card linked to your account that enables you to use it in their shops instead of ordering online. You can’t spend it anywhere other then next owned stores. Only your next account will show on your credit report and it will not stay on your report once you cancel your account.Interested to hear some opinions on the Next Pay card which I just received but didn't request. They sent me one. They are just giving you more options you can shop in store and online.0

why should the OP be forced to spend their time doing something because of un-requested interference from a random corporation? I would be livid.Contact them, tell them you didn't request it, ask them to cancel it. simples! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Well thanks to this forum you won't have to be livid, at least not about this issue will you? No need to call, just cut it and chuck it, end of.Feb 2008, 20year lifetime tracker with "Sproggit and Sylvester"... 0.14% + base for 2 years, then 0.99% + base for life of mortgage...base was 5.5% in 2008...but not for long. Cut it and chuck it.
If you feel you’ve been interfered with by a large Cooperation feel free to take them to the cleaners.
Or better yet just cancel it and be done.0 -
I have just received one of these cards through the post and the accompanying letter shows the card number with first 12 numbers as asteriks then the four last numbers. How am I supposed to know my 16 digit number if I have never had a card with Next before and I don't have any paperwork with information about this card. If it is just a store card there is enough information with my customer number and my name but why have a valid from date and expiry date if it is not used like a credit card with 16 digits. Also what are the 12 asterisks and 4 last numbers for?. Very confusing.0

The 12 asterisks and numbers are to disguise the card number once you've separated it from the card, but gives you enough information to identify which card it relates to.0
