    Good morning all,

Welcome to our new challenge members. I'll add you to the list.

dumpling I shoved my sister's birthday card in the P.O.N. book to keep the card from being damaged on the trip home and it's in at that very page. I'm adding blue cheese and leeks to next weeks shopping list :)

    My meals yesterday were

b - couscous with fruit and yogurt
l - ham salad sandwich (bread is small size wholemeal loaf)
d - cottage pie (sweet potato mash) with cauliflower
s - apple and bag of quavers from multipack

So far so good and all recorded on MFP. I was under my calorie count for the day and there were no sweets, chocolate or cake. I did have sugar cravings but I managed to ignore them. I went online and did some gaming with the House Troll (my 14 year old son for the new people :rotfl: ) and another friend so that kept me busy until bed time. I am also trying to drink more water.

Take care all of you :)

Morning All and welcome to the newcomers.

I'm not sure how but I managed my couch to 5k run last night. There is no way I would've believed anyone 3 weeks ago (when I was seriously out of puff and barely managing 60 seconds of running) that I'd be able to run for 5 minutes without stopping. Okay, it's ungainly and very slow but I kept going even when I thought I had nothing left and am quite proud of myself for not giving up and walking the last bit of the second 5 minutes.

I also managed to resist eating the chocolate that a co-worker gave me and the last bit of leftover cake from the one I made for my mum on Sunday.

Had a good start yesterday. Made the effort to log all my food on MFP and came in almost bang on my calorie target. Then went to the gym after work and burned 250kcal (according to my fitbit anyway). Planning a ride through the woods on my horse later, and then I need to do a food shop.

I just need to take it one day at a time, If I look too far ahead I get really demoralised.

I'm also looking on Amazon for a good self-help book for the binge eating. This probably isn't the right place for these discussions though so ill stop here.

Good plan, and why isn't this the place? Most of us have some sort of food issues otherwise we either wouldn't be overweight in the first place or dieting would be easy and we wouldn't be here....

I agree with Cranky Katiepants ,I’ve gleaned a lot of understanding through this challenge over the past few weeks and I feel it a comfort to know I’m not on my own with some of my worries .Also there are some good tips and lots of advice to be had on here. I too suffer from binge eating but have found that eating regular , well balanced meals does help and if you manage a day on plan reward yourself in the evening . I enjoy a glass of diet lemonade and something like a packet of quavers or french fries during the evening and this has been my salvation over the past weeks .Some nights I really feel the need to binge and if the urge gets too strong I sometimes have a kit kat or a sweet biscuit and manage to stop at that . I am not a quick shedder of weight - only lost 41/2 lbs last challenge but I am managing on the whole to fight binge eating . Also I’m helping my other half to shed some weight so feel responsible enough not to sit bingeing in front of him ( it wouldn’t take much to give him the green light - ha ha !).
What I’m trying to say is that I’m happy to keep nudging down the scale whilst fighting the demon binge. Somehow slow but sure seems to have taken the panic of feeling out of control ,which seems to lead to a binge attack ,away.

Hope I’ve explained what I’m trying to say and that it might help a bit . Would love to hear how others manage the binge attack .

    Good morning everyone :hello:
Day 3 of my fresh start and it's still going well apart from the handful of bourbon biscuits that overpowered me and jumped in my mouth yesterday :D:o. I am here all on my lonesome today and that is going to be challenging as I am a sneaky eater. I will be keeping myself distracted that's for sure with my knitting.

    My meals today are:

    b - weetabix and a banana
l - ham and soft cheese rolls
d - creamy garlic chicken and pasta
    s - pineapple

I have the district nurses popping in today to do a doppler test on me so I will be having a tidy up as well so that should keep me out of mischief.

Hope you all have a good day and make healthy choices xx

Unfortunately the honest answer to that is probably "badly" :o

I seem to have been a bit better this time round at recognising the difference between cravings which will be satisfied by a bit of what I fancy and those which will lead me to emptying pretty much every cupboard in the house and avoiding eating anything if it's the latter.

Distraction tends to work reasonably well for me. I find the compulsion to binge is way, way harder to resist if I'm sitting still so either get myself out of the house or tell myself that I can have something if I still want it after clearing out my wardrobe/cleaning the bathroom etc. On the plus side, when I'm really struggling I end up with a very clean and tidy house :D

I know that I probably shouldn't weigh myself every day but I'm finding it really hard to get out of the habit and then end up getting really disheartened if my weight goes up. I know that the gain I'm seeing at the moment is most likely due to monthly cycles but it's meant I've given in and logged everything on MFP. I was trying to avoid using it again, last time I got a bit obsessed and ended up beating myself up over having milk in my coffee when I'd already used my daily allowance, but I think I need to work out roughly what calories I'm eating and how that affects losses/gains.

In that case, I shall share an excellent resource that I found yesterday, it's from the eating disorder association of Ireland and it is an excellent read: https://bodywhys.ie/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/BEDBookletUpload.pdf

One think it is adamant about is that you shouldn't try and 'diet' whilst following this self-help guide. Therefore I'm keeping the programme on the back-burner until I've lost a little bit of weight.

I also ordered a book off Amazon which was recommended by a lot of Dr's and eating disorder specialists. There was a big choice on Amazon so I wanted to make sure I was choosing one that was recommended by health professionals. It's called "Overcoming Binge Eating, Second Edition: The Proven Program to Learn Why You Binge and How You Can Stop " By Christopher Fairburn.

I am very tired today as OH kept me up late last night unloading a lot of career worries on to me... then I woke up with a splitting headache at 5am. I took paracetamol which got rid of it but it's back now with a vengeance. Tiredness is a huge trigger for me, so I need to have extra willpower today. In addition, I am feeling a little bit upset/jealous about something and this emotional upset would also be a trigger... today is going to be difficult.

Still, It's OK so far: I've had a large bowl of cereal but no morning snack, and I'm going to go for a walk at lunchtime (good for shedding lbs but will also get rid of Mr Headache ). Then I can have a later lunch, orange mid afternoon and it'll be home time before I know it! No gym for me tonight, but going to have a walk with OH later on.

Oh dear Katie ,emotional upsets are one of my triggers also ! You are doing the right thing by diverting yourself with a walk and trying to eat sensibly .HANG IN THERE today and think how pleased with yourself you will feel. Try to take each day as it comes and deal with each little hiccup .Good luck with today .
