I agree enthusiastic saver ,evenings are really hard and it’s not just hunger because I always have a well balanced and nutritious meal about 5.30 pm. About 8pm is when temptation starts for me so I deliberately plan treats of about 200 calories for that time but often I seem unable to stop at that and will eat a biscuit or a couple of mints as well. I am fully aware that this is what keeps my loss at approximately 1/2lb a week so today I have decided that I am going to break that silly habit and eat only my planned treat . I well let you know what happens !

I think that is a good idea to plan a treat Mrs Lottie and maybe that is what I need to do. I rarely have 200 calories left out of my 1400 calories a day limit though so have gone over frequently. I stupidly opened a bottle of wine on Friday and I cannot seem to have a glass of wine without a cracker and cheese or a few crisps so not only have I wasted 100 calories on a glass of wine but often have to have the crisps too and then the tea and toast on top of that. I have to stop drinking wine I think as that makes me hungry. I just wish I was one of those people who do not love food and can easily go for hours without eating.

That is a great achievement to go from a size 24 to a size 14 Mrs Lottie. I think I will have to make weighing in and calorie counting a lifelong habit as I seem to have spent my whole life yo yo dieting. Instead of going from a size 10 to a size 16 then going back to a size 12 or 14 though I should pick a size and stay at it. I have spent a fortune on clothes over the years in dieting then stopping for a year or two then starting again. I am 60 next year and you would have thought I should have it sussed by now.

I am still learning my lesson Enthusiastic Saver and I’m 71 ! I have cut down to one glass of wine a week because I love wine and I also can’t leave cheese and crisps alone when I have a glass of wine in hand .I wish I could just have the willpower to get my excess 2 stone off once and for all and then keep at that weight .Im just going to keep plugging away at my 1/2lb a week and this time next year I might be there !
As for the treat I would still keep to your 200 calorie treat even if you have gone over in the day .At least you would stop at the 200 and not more.

That is an impressive weight loss Mrs Lottie, well done you! I've also been a yo-yo dieter for quite a few years. I'd like to just be one size, but I'm not ready to stay overweight. I need to learn how to maintain a weight loss better, it worries me when I read reports saying it is very bad for your health to yo-yo in weight.

I think I forgot to report my loss this weekend. Lost 1lb thanks Cranky.

I have been for a slow walk on the beach with my family this afternoon, it was really cold and windy. I'm now at home but the family live very close and are suggesting getting a takeaway together. I'm afraid pizza with company wins over the diet every time!

If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?

    Evening Everyone,

Talking about treats I have managed a whole week without my squares of dark chocolate so today I have bought a bar and given it to DH to look after. We are going to have four squares each when we watch Line of Duty later but if he puts it somewhere out of sight I won't be tempted by seeing it and wanting more! I've also treated him to a reduced cream slice at the shop so have come upstairs to my computer and am posting here whilst he eats it.

It's been another cold but sunny day here. I have achieved my step target through cat feeding duties and an hour and a half of tennis this morning. As usual Mum came round for lunch but the family are still away so it was DH and and I on our own for Sunday Dinner. My mother will come for lunch but always turns the evening meal down for some reason! However I took her some cauliflower cheese round for another day.

Lunch: Scrambled egg with smoked salmon, avocado, spinach leaves, cherry tomatoes and cucumber. Tangerine
Dinner: Chicken breast with cauliflower and broccoli in cheese sauce, cabbage, red and yellow peppers and mushrooms.
Treats: Four squares of dark chocolate

Knowing its weigh in day tomorrow is helping keep me on the straight and narrow. I don't want to spoil what I am hoping is a reasonable loss.

I also find the evenings difficult, I've moved my dinner time to later and that does help, I think snacking can become habit rather than hunger I know I was guilty of having a 10.30am and 4pm snack everyday at work usually fruit but not always until I realised that if I missed it because I was in a meeting I wasn't hungry. Things aren't perfect but when I snack it's not because it's a certain time and I need a biscuit with my mid afternoon cuppa.

Well done Rose on a chocolate free week, unfortunately I only have the cat to hide any chocolate and he's not that good at it, no thumbs! One of my sisters complains that my BIL rations himself to a strip a day and puts it back in the fridge in plain sight to tempt her and then he complains when she succumbs :)

Yesterday wasn't a good day food wise I had to work (from home) and due to IT issues ended up working from 7am - 9.30pm and a combination of needing to grab meals on the run and being stressed means I picked. Rather than letting it carry over today I've draw a line under yesterday, today was a new day.

    B - fruit
L - stir fry veg and rice
D - I borrowed Dumplings idea of leeks in blue cheese sauce from the PON book but rather than chicken I poured it over cauliflower rather than a cheese sauce and had it with gammon and asparagus. With Stewed rhubarb for pudding
S - curly Wurly and apple

I made a simple vegetable soup using the odds and sods from the veggie box for lunches next week and cooked some rhubarb and strawberries for puds I'm being good and using sweetener instead of sugar which I'm not sure I like, I might try a half and half instead once I use it up.

I’m another one who struggles with snacking on an evening.

Hope you had a nice time away Cranky. Weigh in day this morning and I’m down 1.5lbs which I’m thrilled with as yesterday I had a glass of wine at lunch then the rest of the bottle in the evening so about 2/3 of the bottle with crisps

    Today’s menu is/will be

Baked egg and bacon, coffee with milk

Roast chicken, cabbage and sprouts with 1 tiny potato and gravy

Tea with milk and a fig biscuit

Butternut squash, feta and green salad with balsamic drizzle

    Square of dark chocolate

    Good morning everyone :hello:
Cranky, can you record a 4lb loss for me this week, I must have a big birthday more often!

Today I am cooking a cumberland pie from the PON book and we will have it with swede and broccoli as it is still rather chilly here. I will get the filling on in a minute as it takes a few hours to cook.

Todays menu will look like this:
    b - weetabix and a banana
l - corned beef and tomato toasted sandwich
    d - cumberland pie
    s - grapes

Hope you all have a great week, take care xx
