So why are you only complaining eighteen months after you purchased the set?

It seems to me you've had plenty of trouble-free happy viewing, ignorant of the fact that it is 8bit rather than 10.

Are you just after a bit of "compo", perhaps?

Where did you actually buy it from? If LG never disclosed the screen type on their website and you didn't get in touch with them to ask then you can't hold them accountable.

If you bought from a retailer who advertised it incorrectly you might have a claim however it would only be at most the difference in price between an 8 bit and a 10 bit, unless it was already really well priced and the same or better than other 8 bit screens.

If however you only took your information about spec from third party sites with LG and your actual retailer not making any mention on it then neither of them have misled you so you have no claim. You can't buy something from Tesco then claim it as mis described if it was Argos who described it incorrectly.

The retailer is responsible for their advertising , not LG.
In other words, LG owe you nothing unless you bought the thing directly from LG.

    Who did you buy from?

OP, have you been happy with the TV so far ?

How much difference do you think a 10bit will have over what you have ?

To all those who have been helpful and polite thank you I do appreciate the responses

I was just after some genuine advice. As mentioned I spent weeks trying to find out what I was buying and in short at the time not currently as all ads have been updated since then the tv was advertised (not by LG) as a full 10 bit panel as LG will not advertise the panel type. This was sourced from LG themselves. I wasn't trying to pull a fast one scam a bit of money or anything like that. I was frustrated because I thought i was getting something different.

In response to the why now questions the TV has always been quite dark in the HDR mode for gaming but I've read that's a normal issue with Lg's HDR modes. My friend was trying to buy a TV and he asked what I had and I showed him and then learned that my TV was HDR 8 bit. So that's the why now answer.

Now to those [Text removed by Forum Team] that literally jumped to conclusions and called me stupid. I think people like you shouldn't own a keyboard! You're the stupid ones as you're stupid finding enjoyment out of negatively commenting on peoples post to get some sort of kick out of it. Not everyone is trying to pull a fast one some people are here for support so don't jump to conclusions.

Was it from Richer Sounds? I don’t think you said. But their specification section does list it as HDR format: HDR 10

    Hi

It was from Argos, The kicker is HDR 10 is a standard and that standard can be met by using software to achieve the missing 2bits from an 8bit panel and still hit the standard

This bit is the killer Panel Bit Depth 10 bit (8 bit + FCR) when I bought the tv several websites stated 10 bit only. They didn't mention the FCR.

It is partially my fault I should have contacted LG to find out for sure before buying from Argos. What I would like is for LG to start advertising the exact panel on their website, It would help consumers find exactly what they are looking for.

    Thank you for the reply
