Mis Advertised Tv

Good Morning All

I purchased a TV in Dec 2017, it was advertised on multiple websites as a full 10 bit panel TV. So i purchased the TV based on this fact. The actual TV supplier refuses to put the panel type on their website (LG) so I was unable to source the information from them before ordering.

It turns out that my TV is in fact and 8 bit panel TV. LG are not accepting any responsibility on this and they still advertise the TV as HDR10 and do not mention it achieves HDR using software.

Do I have any rights to a refund or replacement?

Kind Regards
Francis

The retailer is responsible for their advertising , not LG

As far as I'm aware LG are quite clear about using software to achieve HDR10 , my model was

Television from the future. Advanced formatting technology enables LG TV to output all recognised High Dynamic Range algorithms, such as HLG, HDR 10 and Dolby Vision. Get the HDR experience, no matter what entertainment you're enjoying.

    Richer Sounds say.
Advanced HDR by Technicolor offers reference levels of image and colour accuracy. As well as Advanced HDR, this 55" LG TV also offers decoding for HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision. HDR10 is widely used on UHD gaming consoles from Sony and Microsoft. HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma HDR) is a broadcast and user generated standard format that is set to become the standard for transmitting 4K signals.

Panel specs change, your seller made no false claims. You assumed.

First of all I did not assume! I spend weeks trying to find a full 10 bit panel TV and LG do not advertise the panel type on their website.

I found several sources advising this was a true 10 bit panel TV, one being the
displayspecifications website It has now changed to say it is a 8 bit + dither. See the old page from 2017 by using the internetwebarchive, I would post the link but the forum rules prevent it

What I'm after is to know if LG are responsible as they are not posting the panel types which an LG rep told me today "On lg. com it is rare to see a model with panel specifications listed as it is felt that this is not a major selling point for the majority of customers."

The above feels like a copout! what they mean is we can sell tv's for £1k plus say they are HDR10

I appreciate all the positive responses so far. I just feel LG should be advertising exactly what you get and not have you guessing with Jargon

    Thanks

Panel Bit Depth 10 bit (8 bit + FCR)

Hi thanks, The tv is advertised everywhere now as 8 bit + FCR but it wasn't when I bought it, Richer sounds also advertised it as 10bit sadly waybackmachine does not have any history for that search. displayspecifications .com does have a wayback page for 2017 if you search for the current page and grab the url punch it into wayback machine and you will see the 2017 version advertise as 10bit, John lewis still today advertise as 10 bit. I cannot post the link as I'm new so it's blocked. But honestly I spent weeks trying to find out and at the time not 1 retailer said it was 8bit + FCR
