  • hmmm side tracked again but never mind lol

i make muffins often, the local shop has been selling reduced chocolate so i have been chopping these up to add to a basic muffin base or a chocolate one. sweeties have been mint aero (to a choc base and its scrummy!!) galaxy, galaxy caramel, dairy milk. not tried mars bar yet or snickers but i am sure it will come out fine. smarties were a no no yonks ago cos the colouring comes off but it worked well in cookies.

    Calling all OS'lers!!!

My dd is 4 and starts at BIG school in a couple of weeks and as she used to come in from lil school hungry enough to eat one of her own legs :rotfl:.. I thought I'd try and be a little bit more prepared this year!!!!

I want to give her something homemade, healthy, filling and yummy... she believes all things that contain chocolate are yummy, I know bran is healthy and filling and I can make muffins.....that roughly translates as homemade chocolate bran muffins.. only trouble is whilst I have a recipe for choc muffins and one for bran muffins I don't have one that combines the two!!!!

Can't really afford to do trial and error and am fairly confident that the answer has already been made in an OS kitchen somewhere!!!

Any other recipes that you've found that are likely to fill her up would be gratefully received...but bear in mind you're apparently up against the green and red bugs in her legs... out of the mouths of babes and all that:o
Life....mmmm....still trying to figure that one out but what I do know is if I had all the answers it'd be a hell of a lot easier!!!!!!:p

There is a recipe on here somewhere for Weetabix brownies, they are delicious. You could makes Twinks hobnobs, reduce the sugar (I do this even with plain ones as they are very sweet) and add some choc chips.
Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!

Weetabix brownies sound yum and I've yet to try Twinks Hob nobs. Thanks Chell I'll give them a go - even if my dd won't eat them reckon I can take care of any waste :rotfl:!!!

  • i would have just substituted half the flour of the chocolate muffins with wholemeal flour.

made banana cake the other day using a bero recipe and used the same method for that one.

    found a recipe on google

Thanks Debtmuncher - didn't think to Google it!! duh! The recipe at the end of your link was only for a microwave oven but I did find one for the oven and they are a resounding success - even the non-breakfast eating husband is now eating one with his morning tea!!!!

In your bran muffin recipe, substitute a Tbsp or 2 of flour for cocoa ;)

There's a recipe here; I'll add this thread to that one later to keep ideas together.

  • Made some yesterday and aren't they easy and tasty? Basically idiot proof! I made banana and added some raisins and a sugar/spice topping.
    Highly recommended:p
