PCS parking fine incorrect

Options
Hi, this is the first time I have posted. Today we received a letter from Parking collection services stating we have an outstanding parking fine. Allegedly we parked in a carpark in Ipswich and as a result we have been fine. Firstly we have never been to Ipswich and leave 250 mile away, and on the day in question our car was broken and awaiting repair in a garage. Clearly there has been a mistake/cloned plates. We have informed the police and have a incident number and check to see the photographic evidence mentioned in the letter, however there is no photo. This company has also stated our car is silver when it is blue. Does anybody know what we should do next? Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yes read the newbies thread it explains what private parking company scammers are and how their greed overtakes logic, and common decency.

It is highly unlikely that your VRN has been cloned it is far more a case of their pathetic ANPR system has misread someone else's plate.

This is not a fine either it's an invoice.

PCS do not monitor parking as they are a debt collector, so are the back office for the parking company

which PPC are they acting for ?

and its an INVOICE , not a "fine"

    Simply:

    (a) send the Parking firm (NOT PCS) a Subject Access Request asking for all photos; attach proof that you are the data subject for the car they wrongly allege was there (i.e. a scan of your V5C). This can be done by email to their DPO, as shown on their PRIVACY PAGE (please don't have a quick look at their useless website and tell us the parking firm don't have one...Google their name plus the word 'privacy').

    (b) Email the DVLA to complain that they've given out your data in error and attached the proof that your car wasn't there, and the PPC has misread the VRN and ask what are the DVLA going to do about the data breach?

    (c) Meanwhile, wait till near the end of the 28 days PCS allow to appeal, and appeal as per the back of that letter to the place it tells you to appeal to (PCS online?) stating that this is not your car and that you have reported the parking firm to the DVLA and wish to see all photos taken.

Complain also to your MP as they rely on ANPR which is banned for use by local authorities as it is not sufficiently accurate.

These companies cause stress and unnecessary work for people, so much so that on 18th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these private parking companies. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, and persistent offenders denied access. Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers.

Until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.

Hi just wanted to thank everone for their help. After writing to the DVLA and the parking parking company I have has a response from the DVLA saying that they had investigated my allegations against them and PCS for a data breach and the incorrect issuing of a parking notice and it has been found that PCS have made a administrative error. The parking notice has now been cancelled. Yet to hear from the parking company directly so will wait for their response in writing. It just shows that companies do make mistakes and we must always challenge these companies when we know they are wrong. Thanks again.

Marky777, how does any of that help the OP?
You post doesn't appear to have any relevance to this thread.

The best advice for you is to read the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread, and if you still have questions after that then please start your own new thread.

Same as this thread, obviously. :)

No need to ask what to do next. We don't need to repeat the advice.
