Someone Parking in our space

Parking is a nightmare in estates, roads and high rise flats where there aren't enough spaces to cater for the ever rising numbers of cars per household, I can sympathise!
The flat I used to live at had 2 parking spaces in front of the double garage that is shared with another flat, those spaces were not marked and neither were they on the title plan for the flat! I never bothered to park there as it was on a downhill slope and there were other parking spaces on the road which were a free for all and much easier to get in and out of! Though it was fortunate that this road wasn't near the town centre or station because you can bet it would be parked full with commuters like it is in some roads! I did have a hard time convincing the buyer that he wouldn't have any issues parking in the garage and getting his car out, but the reality was anyone could park in front of the garage, thereby blocking him in!
In my current house, I gave in to paying for a driveway and dropped kerb to be done in front of my house, because as a shift worker I was coming home late in the evening and other people always parked in front of my house and I ended up parking right at the end of the road or even a neighbouring road!
The issue seems to be too many cars per household, one of my neighbours has 5 cars, of course parking them in front of other people's houses who then had to park elsewhere, so glad I have my own drive and space now! :rotfl:0 -
We had a similar issue - unmarked bays to the end of the road. Had been in the house for two/three months when I had to ask the neighbour something - while I was there she politely but irritatedly mentioned we had been parking in her spot for months.
I was mortified.
Until I got home and reviewed our deeds, realised that the spot was ours. Popped back round and showed her. She got hers out and then realised that she didn't have a parking spot at all. She was the only house that didn't have a bay in the quad. (they are numbered on the deed so it's easy to see)
She went ballistic. Yelling and shouting regards the underhandedness of the estate agent as they had told her the spot was hers also the spot in front of her house was hers (its a road, with a pull in parking bay - so she was livid to find it was open to all to park)
We put out house number on the wall of the bay and now it rare that someone parks - if they do I can block them in without inconveniencing anyone else. which as we have a high number of rentals makes for a sadly regular object lesson when tenancies change.0
