Someone Parking in our space

we just bought a property which has 2 spaces, one directly next to the house and the other in a communal carpark at the end of the road. The bays are not marked out, but our space forms part of the title and is highlighted on our deeds, we've been able to deduce where it is from looking at the plans.. Recently someone has started parking in it, which, is not the end of the world as there is on street parking, but slightly annoying.
I also don't know who is parking there as there are 30 houses, quite a few rented out and there doesn't appear to be enough parking for each property to come with two spaces.
What is the best way to approach this?

Is the area in the communal car park definitely yours and not just highlighted on your deeds as the visitor spaces? If so, maybe mark it out and paint your number on it?
Definitely give your deeds a good read though and make sure they explicitly reflect what you understand to be the situation. Sounds a bit odd!0 -
Stand in the bay and shake a stick at anybody who comes near!
Seriously though - is there any way you could mark them as yours? It's difficult really, as without standing their 24/7 or paying somebody else to monitor it, there's no way to really stop people from doing it. I imagine that even if you did say something, you might get a negative response from the parker!
Would it be possible to put some kind of bollard in place, with chains either side? I'm not sure whether this is realistic as I'm sure there are rules around it (otherwise there would be bollards all over!). I did see this in Cornwall though, where parking is incredibly limited in certain places!
It sounds very frustrating. I reckon parking might be one of the biggest causes of neighbour feuds, second to noise.0 -
It definitely says it belongs to us in the title, and it's not visitor parking, some of the other spaces have painted their numbers on the floor, but, as the bays aren't marked out at all, I'm wary of doing so.
I don't want to cause a dispute, and parking on the road in actually closer to the house than the car park, but car park is more secure and out the way so less likely hood hopefully of one of our cars getting damaged!0 -
Assuming all the other spaces are similarly allocated - are the allocations in general being observed, as opposed to everyone informally deciding in the past it would become a free-for-all?0

I had a similar problem at my old address, it is so frustrating even if you don't use it often as you have paid for it. I put a note on the car windscreen saying we owned the space and although it isn't always used it is needed on a regular basis so please keep it clear and put my address on it. That worked. If not then park so you're blocking it in. Nobody wants to have to ask their neighbors if they can go to work or go out in the evening, they'll soon get the message.0

If parking is at a premium and you don't need is there a market to rent it out.0

Just put a note on the offending vehicle0

If you definitely own the spot then put in a parking post.
Something like this

I mean, if you don't use the parking space and there is nothing to indicate it's yours then I feel like you're creating a lot of stress and work for yourself in seeking to police it. I would definitely mark and label my bay as a minimum.
I explicitly tell my visitors to not park in my neighbours bays and to use the visitor one and I would say 70% of the time they still use my neighbours unmarked bay.0 -
Since I moved into my house last August I have been wondering if people would use my parking as visitor parking. (It is at the back of my house effectively cut out of the garden and could look like it is for visitors).
So far only one person has done that, and I left a note on their windscreen. I have set myself a limit of 3 times before I put notices up.0
