CIFAS - Bank

Nationwide Building Society has added me to CIFAS for first party fraud for unpaid cheque from a family member I made a Complain and I’ve got my final response and they not willing to remove it now I have took it FOS now. Any advice what I can in the meantime?

What are they alleging? That you stole the cheque and forged the signature or altered the amount or ?

Don’t know they haven’t really explained what I have done wrong all they said it felt necessary to place the marker

It sounds to me like you don't yet have the details from CIFAS. Have you submitted a Data Subject Access Request?

Alarm bells should be ringing as this is yet another new poster posting such a sob story and most likely will never, ever provide us with a follow-up either.

Yes I did get Data Subject Access Request that’s how I knew it had something to do with a cheque

I don't know what more help you expect.

You don't know what the CIFAS marker is for and you've escalated to FOS.

My advice remains - don't apply for any new accounts until it's sorted out.
