Put it behind the TV you don't need to see it to hear it ...just saying
Er - we're trying not to block the TV's remote sensor with the soundbar. You're very likely to block the soundbar's remote sensor with the TV, with this suggestion!0 -

Right i'm going to state here that i don't want to come across as poo-pooing every suggestion thrown at me. This isn't helped by the fact that some people (not all) during the course of the thread have not actually looked at my situation and instead have mentioned what works for them with their setup.
I don't want anything drilled in to the walls. Ours have been tanked and if we start drilling then we're supposed to inject some specific type of silicone stuff in there and just in general i don't want to be drilling in to the wall. It's boarded out and i have little faith anyway that the TV will be A-ok on the wall. Besides that, i didn't buy a £300 TV stand or whatever it cost me to then not use it.
No offence, just saying i don't want to be drilling in to the wall.
Regards putting the soundbase on a shelf under the TV ... my first question here is will this seriously affect how the sound comes out in the room? Will it be quite echoey if you get where i'm coming from?
A soundbar just on the top surface has nothing but the room to case it in. Put it away in a tight shelf and wouldn't it be a different story?
Aside from that our shelves are taken up with the BT box, DVD player & Wii.0 -
You wouldn't put a soundbase on a shelf, that's defeating the object of the soundbase.
Putting a soundbar on a shelf won't affect it .
Anyway, one last attempt at helping your situation......

Short answer - no, it won't be echoey. Soundbars are supposed to be quite placeable by their nature. Anyone worried about these things spend much more money and have speakers around the room!0 -

your TV has some restrictions due to the stand configuration which is not that standard.
About the only useless suggestion that has not been said was you bought the wrong tv
Panasonic did a model that came with a purpose built in sound bar that year the 58DX802.
(ugly stand)
I looked at the 802 the 750s but ended up going OLED.
One issue you get when you iterate to a full package solution without looking at all the components at the same time is you introduce compromises.
you choice of TV, then stand has compromised your sound solution choices(I don't like sound bars above a TV)
I have the same issue, using an old Ikea cabinet and bookshelf surround system and a TV with around 50mm gap for a sound bar.
One solution I have been looking at to avoid wall mounting is a cantilever stand to raise the TV and have it floating above the cabinet but needs a base that fits under the cabinet.
something like this0 -
I can't remember the price of the TV stand we currently have but it wasn't cheap, or at least not to us. Sure there'll be more expensive options out there but as at the time i wanted solid oak furniture that's what we got for the TV stand which without checking invoices cost somewhere in the region of £300-£600. I genuinely forget the price. The point here is at that price that's the stand my TV will end up staying on.
I understand i'm being restrictive - not getting a new stand, not drilling in to walls etc. If this ends up meaning i can't have a soundbar then that'll have to be the case. Still, if i can work around it then i will.
I had a measure up after people here were mentioning soundbases. I don't want to be dismissive and say i'm not having a soundbase 'just because', so like i said, for these people i measured up....
...and on that note the TV is 1300mm wide and the stand legs come in at 1240mm apart.
Does that help those suggesting a soundbase for the TV to sit on?0 -
You do have the option to move the legs to the inner positions0
-
So, unless you can find an extra large soundbase and you still want a soundbar, your choices seem to be, change the TV legs....Post #33. Or, mount a soundbar above the TV, Post #35...
Good luck with your search, persistence usually pays dividends..Drinking Rum before 10am makes you
