Gas boilers to be banned

  • Im guessing you dont realise how much an incineration plant costs to build and maintain. And if it was even financially viable;
Who is in charge of fuelling it?
Who is responsible for carrying out repairs?
Who is responsible for paying for repairs
Not to mention the health and safety issues.

Being reliant on a communal energy system for dwellings is a logistical nightmare.

If a suitably green method of providing heat to homes exists, that can be installed for each individual home then I am all for it, problem is, it doesnt.

You could say the same for household gas supply - ie the utility company, local council etc.

The government scrapped zero carbon houses, perhaps they will bring that back, before banning gas?
We are moving from generating electricity with coal, to generating with gas; we haven't completed that yet, so banning gas will not be anytime soon.

Can’t help but think “not going to happen”. Am I a realist or is this further confirmation that I’m a creature of yesterday?

I expect it will be watered down, with exemptions etc.
But it is the direction of travel..

These policies do chop and change in the short-term.
But if you look back over the last 50 years, increased energy efficiency is the trend.

That may be true of alternatives such as purely electrical heating (which is expensive - but can sometimes be the best option for flats - especially if the occupant isn't in much).

Have seen a little bit about these proposals. The thinking is that new builds will be much better insulated and have air or ground source heat pumps installed. If done well, it would be cheaper to heat the home.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.
  • Worth remembering that individual gas supply to houses can be dangerous.
When considering costs, you need to remember that the national British gas supply grid is largely pre-existing in a lot of places.

You could, if you are extremely obtuse.

I wasn't meaning to be rude.
But someone must be responsible for these where the systems are used.

No, I've sussed it, they've fallen for the climate change, global (over)heating tosh and believe boilers won't be needed by 2025.

Air conditioning is the future, invest now :D

    Many a true word....

Air source heating is basically air conditioning run in reverse. In existing homes, it often fails to deliver without the large physical modifications needed to make it effective in all weathers. However, in a new build with better insulation than we're used to, it would be a goer, especially coupled with solar panels.
