Just cancelled sky and not bought any kind of box to record, pause etc.
We had the sports package with sky just for the golf around the world.
Does anyone know if I bought the monthly sports pass from nowtv or currys would I be able to record the live play on any of the boxes offering freeview, freesat, hard disk etc.
Some of the tournaments are at odd times and I cannot always watch live.
Thanks

You cannot record on NowTV. You can pause the playback for 30 minutes or so but that's about it.0

The live streams of NowTV are cheap for a reason.
If you want full recording functionality then you'll need to re-subscribe to Sky (or Virgin)
Currys???
Otherwise, stay up all night and watch live0 -
Thanks for the replies.
I was wondering if I bought the now TV box and bought something else to record on would I be able to use both at the same time and it allowing me to record what was actually playing on the TV.
Curry's sell the monthly now TV voucher at about £8 cheaper than anywhere else.
Some golf tournaments are on when I am playing golf so defeats the objective to stay home and watch.
Its a long story but would never go back to sky. They offered a deal we upgraded then what they were charging was higher. Also charged administration of £30 that they never told us about. They tried to scare us into staying by saying we would have to have a new line installed and mobile cost would increase when we knew different. We recorded the calls 5 in all each of 45-60 minutes long because of a similar problem in the past where we were duped into a contract and no longer trust them. Was with them 18 years.
As for Virgin heard good and bad, not prepared to risk it.0 -

It doesn't work like that unfortunately because the NowTV boxes just play a web stream to a HDMI compatible TV. you can't connect it to anything else.
I suppose in theory you could get the app, sign into that and then use a screen recorder device but the quality of this will be dreadful if it works at all.
Unfortunately if you want to record the golf in a format that you can actually watch at your convenience, it's Sky or Virgin (or NowTV on their terms). Sorry.0 -
Thank you Neil
It's a shame no one has offered the record function, quite happy to pay for it and have in the past suggested to sky that they just offer sports.0 -

OP, don't know if you know, but Now TV are currently offering a 9 month sports pass for £195 - it's aimed at F1 fans but covers all their sports channels on Now TV.0

Talktalk claim that their box (which is a branded Youview PVR) can record incoming pay TV streams. One of the Pay TV options is Sky Sports.
I've not seen any feedback on this recording facility good or bad, but it sounds like it could be a cheaper option than a full Sky or VM service.
TT say that recording of "Boost" i.e. Pay channels is limited to one for ADSL BB customers and two for Fibre BB customers, which makes sense.0 -
Colin thanks but I no longer trust them, had to contact ceo with complaint and still waiting for a refund of money owed to me.
Big Phil thanks, I did see the offer but thought it was just for f1, worth considering
Cornucopia thanks but I have already subscribed to broadband with another provider and after basically looking at talktalk website it appears that to get the boost option I would also have to take their broadband but will investigate further and post if different0 -

Yes - it was always sold as a add-on to BB.0
