  • Thanks for the lengthy advice.
Its just that the sign on entry just talks about the 2 hours max bit?
And the fact there is no chevrons or yellow lines on that part of the area?
And the signs are only 45cm square that mentions about parking in bays only in little writing, otherwise I could understand a bit more?
So finally in reply to them how should I word it regarding me not paying their 'invoice' because of ......................... Thankyou
  • Hi. In a nutshell I needed to call into my Co op local and all 15 bays were taken. I parked in an area which was unmarked. No yellow lines or chevrons. I was away after 4 mins.

    Forgot to mention:

The last PCN (invoice - parking charge notice) I received was at a local ASDA store for being 2 mins over the allowed 2 hour parking time. They used automatic number-plate recognition to track me in and out the store.

Totally ignored these people. I did receive several letters over a short period demanding monies and increasing the amounts whilst offering discounts for quick payments etc. After a year they decreased, now they are down to annual notifications. 3 years down the line I still ignore their correspondence and keep my well earned money in my pocket not theirs.

Don't celebrate too soon, many PPC's are getting increasingly litigious even some that never chanced court are taking action and have up to six years to do so.
  • He said hes had so many customers get caught out like that.
Its because the landlord brought in the parking company and he didn't even tell them he was doing it, he must be on a right rake off?
Similar to residential parking, where a scheme is brought in without consultation, one has to wonder if the lease that the Co-Op has with the landlord allows the latter to impose such a scheme without changing said lease or even without consultation.

They have photographic evidence of me with a box of tea bags in my hand.

How can this bbe, I thought the cameras were focussed on number plates. How do they now that the RK is the same person as the teabag buyer? They are trying to scam you.

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of alleged contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors. Is has been suggested by an MP that some of these companies may have connections to organised crime.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, (especially Smart}, and others have already been named and shamed in the House of Commons as have Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each week), hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned. They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct

The problem become so widespread that MPs agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. It has cleared Parliament and hopefully, this will become law shortly.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

Ignoring tickets is not a path I would recommend following these days. Just ask the thirty thousand people Parking Eye took to court in one year if they would recommend ignoring tickets.

"This is based upon my own personal experience, relatives and friends. All of which ignored everything ever sent by the initial private parking company and the others which brought the bill from them. In all cases we never responded to any mailings and remain happily blissful we didn’t chuck our money away to these robbing cowboys."

for the avoidance of doubt ....

this is highly contentions .... if not plain bad advice .... take the time to see how many people are in court every day

  • Hi Ralph
All pictures on their website relate to me arriving getting out walking to co op coming back with teabags getting into car turning around and going out of car park.
All in the space of their timing of 4 mins.
Is this one for Popla ?

4 minutes to complete a purchase in the Co-op? That deserves a medal, not a PCN.

Complain to their CEO, forcefully. Insist on cancellation. I bet I could find an email address for him or her on the 'net without too much trouble. It is the easiest way to make PCNs go away and always worth a shot for sure.

If you don't get anywhere with that, submit a POPLA appeal within the timeframe as Coupon-mad advises.
