    Hi Guys

Well I have good news. I have won my Popla appeal and my ticket has been cancelled.

To anyone who has had a ticket at The Portswood Centre there is no reason yours should not be cancelled too.

This is proof that Brittania will issue tickets with no landowner authority. A despicable disgusting company extorting money with menace.

My advice is fight them. It is very satisfying indeed to take them on and be proved right.

Massive thank you to everyone who gave me advice. I am very grateful.....

    Congrats Mirrorcarp!

Out of interest, did you win through Britannia not contesting your appeal or through an assessor finding against them?

Please post the entire decision in POPLA DECISIONS with a link back to this thread for context, but only (please!) after putting in at least ten paragraph breaks! Please no POPLA wall of words!

In view of this quite clear statement from POPLA, why not give Britannia a dose of their own medicine by making life uncomfortable for them?

Write to the DVLA and complain that POPLA has grave doubts that Britannia has authority to operate at this site. Ask that the DVLA investigates and reports back to you. In particular they should calculate how many charges have been issued, and should there be no valid landowner authority, Britannia should be required to cancel all charges for that site and repay motorists who have been misled and paid. Email in the first instance:

    ccrt@dvla.gov.uk

If you get a fob off from that approach, follow it up with a full blown Freedom of Information request. It will be more difficult for them to hide under FOI.

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

    Great news!

Please do post the decision in POPLA DECISIONS, that will be so helpful for other victims.

I too am keen to know whether Britannia backed off or whether the assessor found against them.

    Hi all
I have aactually been on holiday and just saw an e mail to say i had won my appeal.

I have just logged on to Popla now to have a look and it appears that the adjudicator gave his decision based on inadequate signage in the car park.
He then went on to say that he would not even look at the other points raised as there was no need to take it further.

The signs were point one on my appeal so he clearly looked at that first.

I will do my best to get all this on the decisions thread when I have the chance.

It will be interesting for other posters to see that the Portswood Centre signs have been declared by POPLA as inadequate and incapable of binding a driver to a contract.

Make sure you mention when posting in the POPLA DECISIONS thread, which PPC you beat and the location! Plus put paragraph breaks in the decision or we keel over trying to read it!

Woohay! So pleased to hear this. The signage there really is a joke & now the joke's on Britannia.

Posted the outcome on Popla Decisions thread now for those who wish to view it.

Good luck to anyone else fighting tickets from Brittania at this site.......

Thank you to all that contributed, and especially those who gave me the advice I needed to fight this.

The principal was far more important to me than the money.
