BT broadband coming to end

Hi forumites, my BT broadband is coming to an end in August. They are desperately trying to “make” me go to fibre. I don’t want fibre. All i need is to be able to use my mobile phone and ipad. I do not make landline calls. I have an ordinary tv with free view built in, i do not wish for netflix or anything else. My current price is £31pm including broadband and line rental. I called BT and asked what was the best option for the above after August. She was quite insistant on telling me the benefits of fibre etc etc despite my repeatedly telling her she’s wasting her time. So she then bluntly said, if you stay as you are your monthly fee will go up to £45! In August. I think that it very short sighted of them. I’m sure the new fibre deal is a good package for a family home that needs it, but I don’t and I feel obliged to have it. So i’m leaving BT!

The current 'price' for ordinary BT broadband including line rental is £25 on an 18 month deal that goes upto £32.
At the moment Openreach are offering incentives to all ISP's to upgrade customers to Fibre to the cabinet at zero cost, so that's why you are being offered FTTC for the same or even less cost than your regular broadband ( the OR incentive is to get the 'average' speed up , obviously people who could benefit from faster speed from FTTC but don't want to 'upgrade' affect the average speed negatively )
If your current deal doesn't expire until August, then perhaps March is a little early to be concerned about it, and although they are pushing FTTC , I bet come August a deal on regular broadband would be available especially if you are prepared to leave BT to avoid FTTC0 -
It does not come to an End rather moves to standard price 30 day rolling contract .Thats the £45 pm .
Not sure why you are against fibre as its not really more expensive .
BT give me fibre bb + line Rental + BT TV + BT Sports for £36 pm .
Just fibre BB and line rental would be circa £23 pm .0 -

That's the out of 'contract' ( minimum term) price for Superfast 2 (80Mb) , the 'list' price in contract ( so if you renew ) is £40 , but chances are that price can be bettered by contacting BT retentions armed with a competitors price for 80Mb..you may think that you shouldn't have to call to negotiate a better price, but like it or not, it's the way things are, best prices are for 'new' customers ( who are obviously inside a minimum term as they have just joined ) or 'recontracting' customers...it's not just BT hat do this, they pretty much all do.0 -

Although, as iniltous suggests, you could just telephone and ask what they can offer you to stay with them.0 -

I have to thank you for subsidising the £28.60 a month that i pay for BT Fibre 2 and line rental0 -
dont move to a rubbish provider. Move to a decent one. The customer services alone pay for itself. Standard Zen ADSL costs £28 a month with zero price increases as long as you stay on the same package. Look at the which surveys to see who are at the top and who are at the bottom.0
