WiFi or data, which will phone connect to?

On iPhones, if you have WiFi Assist on and the speed or connection of the WiFi network you are attached to isn't the best, it uses cellular data to increase the bandwidth.
If you are on a limited plan, its best to have this turned off as it can easily eat into your allowance.0 -

I have a Nokia 5, running Android Pie, and can set it up to connect to WiFi automatically when I'm registered to that particular network.
You can also set it up to use mobile data where the WiFi signal is too weak; I imagine various Android manufacturers have their own implementation of it?It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
But nobody has said the obvious i.e. that Wi-Fi is data! Why have you picked out those two respondents from the others?Only you and wongataa seem to care - the rest of us are happy to realise what people mean rather than be grammar-Nazis.
That's not true, is it - you made an accusation.Because to resurface a thread that had already been answered to provide the same answer as previously provided would be the action of a prospective spammer. I was giving the poster the benefit of the doubt.0 -
As far as i know you can be connected only to one type of internet connection at a point. If you are connected to data and connect to a Wi-Fi connection, your phone will disconnect from your data connection as long as you are in the range of the said Wi-Fi. Once the range is lost ,your phone will automatically switch back to mobile data.0

WiFi vs Wi-Fi ... that's what the comments were about, NOT whether either definition meant data.
Go and troll someone else - just because you didn't like my reply on your thread doesn't mean you should now try and misinterpret my other posts.0 -
First of all, don't accuse me of trolling.WiFi vs Wi-Fi ... that's what the comments were about, NOT whether either definition meant data.
Go and troll someone else - just because you didn't like my reply on your thread doesn't mean you should now try and misinterpret my other posts.
Secondly, this isn't your thread, so don't tell me not to post on it.
Thirdly, don't abuse newbies, it's against the forum rules. In fact, for all you know, the newbie could be Jewish yet you have called him/her a 'grammar Nazi' without even enquiring as to whether his post was pedantic or whether it was answering the OP's query (both Tronator and myself thought the latter). Do you not realise how deeply offensive that would be?
And lastly, if you insist on making cryptic posts then you can hardly complain if people misinterpret them. You seem to have a communication problem, as demonstrated on the thread to which you refer. You also don't seem to have noticed that my post there (which you quoted) came a couple of hours before yours, so couldn't possibly have been based on it!0 -
