  • I was a victim of identity theft last year and that took me a lot of phone calls and letters to resolve AND it affected my credit file for a fair few months so your not unique with your situation.

As already mentioned its unfortunate but that's the way it goes, don't get mad just get it dealt with, life's too short.

Unfortunately as above you are now dealing with a scamming private parking company and someone has done this intentionally or in error and a PPC will plague you in their quest for cash as that's all they are interested in.
Not quite. They'll plague the mythical third person. Inconvenient that they are using the OP's address, but it won't mean CCJs or anything like that.

Has the DVLA responded in writing to you? If not, it would be worth pushing them to confirm this. It will be important, and you could consider sending the DPO for Euro Car Parks a letter/email to exercise your right to be forgotten (given they have incorrect details). That should stop them being in a position to pursue you, even though they shouldn't be anyway.

But they're not pursuing the OP, they're pursuing a third party who happens to share the same address.

Why not just return, "Not known at this address"? And the same for all following letters, as T.S.T. says, its not in the OP's name.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

I was similarly harassed due to a DVLA FUBAR. I sold a car to a dealer, completed the paperwork correctly, etc.

Several months later got two NIPS from Hampshire Constabulary. I sent a very robust letter to the Chief Constable.

Hmmmm....I just called the previous owner of my house to enquire about this car and he admitted that it is his son's car. Why did he not notify the DVLA that he moved from this address...I bought the house from them nearly 4 years ago.

That will explain why I did not receive any communication from DVLA about this car as it was already registered at my address before I moved in....very !!!!ed off

Just a quick heads up, these are not fines, and of its for a previous resident, as you have been in touch, I would strongly advise that you inform of this forum, as they will probably need help.
While your here take a look at the various threads, and the fabled newbies thread, or will be a real eye opener, especially once you see how the private parting industry ticks.
And if you ever fall victim to a private parking company, as need to post here asking for help, then I would advise you re register, unless your name is not sam and you were not born in 1970
