Real worst case scenario is shortages, power outages etc followed by civil unrest on a national scale, with violent looting of our property. No point hoarding tins of beans, if someone might rob you at knifepoint for it!!!
That really is worst case!!How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -

Days away to no deal and I have three of nine toilet rolls unused.
All the nice bakers food has been delicious.
No hope of any more shopping either fri or sat a day or two after no deal.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0 -

You forgot shortage of clean water as we import the chemicals to treat water and they have a short shelf life, so they cannot stock pile them.
MI5 said we are four meals from anarchy. Lets just hope there is something to eat...0 -
Realistically we're going to be back at normal stocks in a few days, so we've maybe got 3-4 days of panic buyers clearing out the shelves of milk and bread. We're also well enough off to take a small hit in the cost of food but I can see more and more scuffles happening at the clearance section at the end of the night.0

So what's new?
What clearance section? If Brexit causes food shortages, all the food will have been bought and eaten before it approaches its sell by date.
The clearance section will be your local park where everyone will be on their hands and knees grubbing for roots and berries.0 -

What is comical? Both statements are factual & I do hope there is enough for everyone to eat.
Do you really think if a large portion of society went without a meal for two days that society wouldn't collapse? People phoned the police when KFC ran out of chicken.
I don't think it will be so bad that everyone has no food because of problems importing, but it doesn't need to get that bad before things go south. Even the fear of it becoming that bad will cause panic buying, which will have a greater effect than shortages caused by problems importing.Malthusian wrote: »The clearance section will be your local park where everyone will be on their hands and knees grubbing for roots and berries.
They will raid the houses of people who stockpiled before that happens.0 -
