That's without taking further credit out in my partner's name, which is now maxed out >.<

The most annoying thing about the whole lot is if i hadn't started gambling, and just paid the bills each month most of the debts would have now been cleared and not defaulted and i wouldn't have debt under my partner's name either.

    Monthly Income Details

    Monthly income after tax................ 1699.41
Partners monthly income after tax....... 0

I'm guessing that means you've applied for credit using your partner's details (and your partner has no income).

If it’s legimate salary only and gambling, none of these are reason for a cifas marker.

You would need to have committed some form of fraud.

However as you have had gambling issues if you lied about any details when obtaining a loan or applying for credit, this may be well why

100% legitimate salary, and nothing else.

Far as i know i've personally committed no fraud, and never lied on my old applications for credit. Including the card we took out in my partner's name, was all legit and she was working at the time when we applied for them.

i guess ill just need to wait for my CIFAS report, and letter to arrive from Santander.

I'm more concerned about work now, as they want to know WHY my bank was closed. It's none of their business tbh but they want to know.

Out of interest, why would gambling cause an account to be closed and a CIFAS marker applied?

Not saying it would, but sometimes you need to prod and probe to coax information in order to understand why certain things have happened. OP carefully chose to answer only certain parts of the questions that were asked of them. Yes, that may be because it's none of our business but it also hints at concealment. Some of OP's posts in other threads carried information that suggested this line of questioning might reveal the answer to their issue.

Is your employer really asking that question right now? If so, you can always choose to lie and tell them you closed it but didn't get a new one opened in time. Opening a new one now will be tough - perhaps they might be prepared to pay your wages into your partner's account. Presumably you only need to tell them the sort code and account number - or might that cause a problem if your partner knows nothing about what is happening - or why?

Yes they are, as i was open and honest with them yesterday when i found out that the account had been closed. Told them i do not have a bank account currently as it's just been closed and i have been advised to contact CIFAS. So now they want to know why has it been closed, who are CIFAS, why were you not told, to me it seems they don't believe me and think i have done something to force the account to close (which isnt the case)

My partner knew before my employer did, phoned her as soon as i came off the phone to the bank. She doesn't want my wages paid into her account, already asked.

I have an account with my local building society, i can use that. I'm worried if i have some sort of CIFAS marker though that might also be closed.

Sorry if i seem cagey i don't mean to be i'll openly answer any questions which are asked.
  • Just have your salary paid to your partners account.

This isn't an option, she doesn't want it paid into her account and she's quite within her right to say no as well.
  • Of course she is quite within her right, had I said otherwise?

I'm having trouble with Santander. I've just written a long post on the forum. I'm not used to this forum-writing though so I don't know how to tell you where it is. Basically though, I've had MY access blocked by them. All I was doing was transferring a sum from Santander to Coventry Bldg. Soc. … OK it was a substantial sum because I was topping up an ISA. Numerous phonecalls to no avail. All I get told is to go to a branch with my passport to open up access to my accounts again. I'm elderly and unwell at the moment. In pain to boot. Told them ALL this but there's "nothing they can do" to help! I'm making a file of everything that's happening and reporting them to the Ombudsman. Like you say, it's enough to give you a heart attack or a stroke, especially at MY age! And the length of time they leave you on hold is ridiculous!

Sorry didn't mean for that to come across wrong or anything, no barriers up was just saying what she had said to me.
